    034 Owners Discussion Thread

I know a few of us are running an 034 tune now. Figured It was about time to hop on the bandwagon and create a place for us to share our thoughts, logs, and other goodies.

Note: The majority of my comparisons are to my old Revo/CW setup discussed more here: Revo Stacked w/CW Dual Pulley Testing Thread

When I first flashed the 034 Stage 2+ tune on my car it threw an ECU checksum error:
    Code:
    6373 - Internal Control Module
    	P0606 00 [165] - Processor Fault
MIL ON - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
    		Freeze Frame:
    			Fault Status: 00000001
    			Fault Priority: 2
    			Fault Frequency: 6
    			Mileage: 51528 km
    			Date: 2000.00.00
    			Time: 00:00:00
This made it so the car would not turn over and would just keep cranking until you removed the key.

Being a beta tester and especially on a car they don't have physical access to this wasn't too surprising. I reached out them and they suggested I try the Stage II file until they could correct the 2+ one.

I only mention this in case some of you other testers run into it

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hooked up my laptop and after a few minutes, the car fired right up running their Stage 2 100 oct file.

Initial impressions over my previous setup:
    Considerably smoother power delivery
    Noticeable torque increase down low
Not nearly as quick up top (Maxing out at 18.6 PSI vs 20.6 with my old setup)
Cold starts were a bit rough (I was running E40 in the tank)
LTFT/STFT were high but not unreasonable

For a Stage II tune this thing rips compared to my Revo tune.

Laszlo let me know a few days later the Stage II+ E40 tune was ready for me. Flashed it over and this time the car started straight up!

Initial impressions over my previous setup:
The idle is so much smoother, driving is so much smoother, their is some serious witchcraft going on here. I swear it is smoother than a stock car.
Torque was noticabeablly lower down low compared to their Stage II setup (They are working on fixing it)
MUCH quicker up top hitting 22+ psi!
Cold starts are now very smooth
    LTFT/STFTs are now near -0-

The current tune compared to my older setup can be summed up pretty well with this graph:

*Take this shit with a grain of salt, I don't want to hear how its not "scientific", "realistic" or whatever other excuse you want to use*

    034 Stage 2+ E40 with 50/50 w/m
    034 Stage 2+ E40
Revo Stage I+/CW(7-1) E30 - (Same setup did 415 AWHP on the dyno)
    Revo Stage I+/CW(7-1) E33 with 60/40 w/m - (Very similar setup(E30) did 400 AWHP on the dyno)

Note: I did switch to my summer tires as you can see in the above graph.

I was running slightly less Ethanol than the tune calls for so I think that explains the timing correction. Going to test it tonight.

The meth pull was done shortly after the non-meth pull with a few inbetween.

Car misfires a bit when spraying meth so I am switching plugs again to attempt to rememdy it.

I have the stage 1 ECU and TCU. I am CPO so didnt want to do cooling and DP yet, but with all this talk OF TD1 even if flashed back stock being a possibility, i might say f-it. I am still waiting for them to let me flash at home. I really like the performance increase, tho i only drove it for like a week stock. I rode in nates car, its a beast.

Reach out to Laszlo if you are interested.

034 was at the top of my list for 6+ months while I was shopping for tunes. When they let me know it was available for testing it was a no brainer.

As is, it is pretty much perfect for daily driving. Smooth, refined, powerful.

I'm always thirsty for more though and don't mind up giving some driveability for more power.

Hopefully they have an updated file for me soon

virtual dyno? honestly what a brilliant idea. Idk much about 034 but I've always had good mojo towards them. It's really exciting to see some numbers (ish) w/ meth and w/o meth.. looks like you're a bit down from the previous set up, hopefully that's rectified w/ time. thanks for the info!

You can grab it from here: http://www.virtualdyno.net/

It isn't quite right out of the box, I had to tweak the XML files a bit to get it working correctly for me.

I'm waiting on some log/dyno figures to calibrate it better.

The car is a lot stronger now up top than it was with my Revo/CW setup. It is, however, weaker down low due to bleeding boost. (Note the huge gap in torque)

    -------------------------------------------------

Once I get the tune figured out without meth I will start playing with it again.

With my old setup the engine would bog due to a massive correction in fuel trims which resulted in a loss of 15whp.

034's tune isn't bogging at all but also isn't really benefiting from it outside of IATs yet.

    It will come with time

Yes, it's worth it. I waited over 2 years for it! (Flash at home beta user). If you gotta pull the trigger hit up Laszlo @034Motorsport and see if you can hop on the beta! I promise, with 034, it never hurts to ask. Last I knew, they were the only company who have proven 11s on stage 1.

They are a great company with great customer service and great products. I've been a customer for many years across two platforms and have had nothing but positive reviews of everything of theirs I've tried.

I have what may be an elementary question revealing my lack of understanding regarding how the bybass valve works on our cars . Why would the hp be up but torque down if it is bleeding boost? It seems like that would have a direct impact on both aspects of power delivery. Not trying to get to over analytical and the car definitely looks much more stout up top.

Edit: nvm after looking at the chart again i see my folly.

RFP_AV is the bypass valve. You can see it in the right most column in my table.

Bleeding quite a bit of boost under 5,500rpm then it closes and good to go.

Laszlo has been awesome for sure! I asked him about testing, and he offered to let me test the E40 Dual Pulley, but I only have 1 E85 pump around here, and they have been reading low lately, so I'm going to wait for their 91 tune to test :\

Also working with 034 at the moment. As soon as I have my cooling system installed I'm going stage II and a few other bolt on goodies. Laszlo is the man. Just got my windows 10 machine up and running.

Do you test the ethanol content every time you fill up? If not, what do you do to mitigate getting a bad batch of pump E85?

No, I'm too lazy for that. The gas attendant normally tells me roughly how much it is. This latch batch I picked up is VERY strong >E90 according to him.

All my measurements are based off my ECA I installed here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ntent-Analyzer

I ballpark it then adjust as needed.

    034 Owners Discussion Thread

Nice thread Geoff! I'll add some input here and confirm what you said that the e40 tune (all tunes for that matter) start, idle, cruise and hammer smooth as silk. The shifts are crisp and very precise. There were a few hiccups with the e40 file initially, but Nate has it all sorted out now. To put into perspective how good the e40 tune really is, there was a UC Apr car at the track yesterday (Hoosiers and race file) and we were running very similar times, but I was a tick quicker/faster and my shift points still need to be changed.

To clarify on blending, I actually use 40% e85 blended with 60% of 91 (contains up to 10% ethanol) so I use 5 gallons of e85 mixed with 7.5 gallons of 91. Depending on how low my tank is, I will use simple math and add more of both...usually if I'm around 30 miles left on the display, I'll add 5.5 gallons e85 and 8.25 gallons of 91 octane. My e85 pump isn't a part of the 76 station so I couldn't ask the attendant, but I don't know how they would know anyways. The E pump runs pretty true and hovers around 83/85% ethanol as verified by my ethanol content analyzer in my CtsV over the last few years.

Sorry about the generic measurement Loe, I should have measured it before install. I'll find out and let you know.

Geoff, thanks for starting this thread. I've been very happy with my beta DP tune for almost a year. All I can say is that the FD-194mm is too much for 91 pistane, AIT's climb quick with this set up and bypass comes open >75c from what I've seen in my logs but it varies. Soon, I'll be on the E40 map and I can't wait to let her rip, now we just need to convince 034 to do a Hemi 80mm TB tune to remove that bottle neck. 034 is doing an amazing job but I'll never be as fast as you DSG guys

Where you at in Portland? I have family in Salem, I'll be up there around Aug/Sept time frame.

Loe, according to 034 website: 57.70mm in diameter. And that's what I was told when I swapped out pulley.

Raf, I live right next to the Portland airport and have family down in Salem as well.

Hit me up when you're in town and we can go grab a beer.

I'm an early adopter of 034's Stage 1 ECU and TCU tune as well, although nowhere hardcore like most of you with logging, mapping, dyno, etc. Just my daily driver and occasional track day. Was at Laguna Seca on Easter Sunday, but was hampered by rain all afternoon. Anxiously waiting for flash at home as I'm about 3 months away from 25k service.

Awesome, I'm wondering if they would ever do a e85 tune.

They hadn't seen a lot of gains in a full e85 tune and aren't looking to add one, last time I asked.

    Wait a second.

I'm not new to car modifications, though I'm less experienced in the world of ECU tunes.

I, like you, am excited about 034, and I'm still learning and organizing my thoughts around which company I'm going to trust (and pay) to overwrite the software that makes my pretty damn expensive car function in its most basic capacity, knowing that an oops here or there could result in catastrophic failure of the delicate machinery that my wife made me promise to take care of.

So... if you would, please, share what exactly it was in this relatively short thread populated by a very small number of people predominantly talking about pulley size, where/how they get their gas, and whether they want to meet up in Portland that tipped you over the edge?

This is what I heard as well. After E40 they stopped seeing the benefits.

Some pumps are starting to stock E35 and other lower mixtures in the eastern states which is promising.

@crimsonstone, I have no interest in trying to sell tunes for 034. I posted my reasoning for choosing them in one of the "which tune" threads earlier today.

I have been very happy with the tune so far. I should get an update tomorrow that will hopefully clear up the boost bleed down low.
