I wonder if putting some type of screen over the opening would help keep it clean without reducing the airflow? I want to try this.

That is a pretty good idea. I may try this after a little bit when i have time to leave the car down for the dry time of the epoxy.

For years now guys have been just drilling multiple holes in that section of air box, even through the fender well and air box too pull air in from more areas. Using some screen material from a hardware store to keep out particles. I can't find a good link.

Yep nothing new for sure but now we have a nice DIY and like you said tons of pics!
