    B5/B7/B8 parts compatibility with B6.

Thought I would start a thread as a database of what parts we can swap into our B6's from B5's, B7's and B8's.

B7 Center console, as we all know. Do it for the cup holders. Be sure to get the E-brake assembly, can be done without it...but no cutting required with the B7 assembly.

B7 rear headrests. Cleaner look, IMHO.

I hear B8 seats will work, can someone confirm?
B7 seats fit with a wiring change due to airbag.

User 1.8Cab posted the following about B7 front brakes on a B6

    - I just upgraded my B6 288mm fronts to the B7 320mm fronts. It completely bolts on without mods. The B7 320s fit over 16" oem 5 spoke wheels (et43) with about 10mm
clearance. Just watch those wheel weights. "

B7 Aero wiper arms/blades. You may already have these on your B6 if it is a late 2004 or a 2005.

B7 wheel, topic of some debate as to if the airbag will function properly when needed in a B6. You will need the ring thingy in the bottom left of the pic and the control module seen bottom right behind the stalk controls.. I would LOVE to install mine, but the airbag question has me on the fence.

    Just subscribed.

I'm running B7 S4 calipers/carriers with 345 mm rotors up front. Bolted right up. I used the dust shields as well.

I'm looking to do swap the sunroof switch to a B7 one as well. There was a thread that says it's an exact fit and get rid of the phantom closing issue for good.

I've also ordered some B8 window switches. They should fit properly with some minor adjustment.

I'm interested to see what else fits too!

itsmatt33 said it's also a good idea to install B7 e-brake cables, when doing B7 brakes mod.
S/RS door card inserts could be leather, vs. our fake.

I heard it's due to the potentiometer metal being bent (worn) from use, that it needs to be taken apart so you can rebend it (spring metal)

Supposedly; with the case being that similar-looking knobs from A3 won't entirely as a full assembly because A4 boot (the bottom trim ring too) goes wider than A3 (a tiny car)

DSMIC from a B7 will fit a B6 , however, fabrication is needed as well as various pipes and front transfer ducting from the B7

ok but the whole things are like $130 for both.
evo_ski says its $8 if you figure out where to buy the bushings by themselves. Rubber donut looking things. Maybe you can cut the old ones off, slide new ones on.

The B8 Switches are super nice and it has chrome. I ended up chroming everything out in my interior to match, even down to the other window switches.

You can easily buy the whole window switch kit for cheap on ebay....
I'm weary of eBay window switches. Last set I bought was black "OEM" from China. Looked like some thin paint (enamel, acrylic?) and flimsy so it emitted a cheap click sound whenever I used it. Instead of solid, like original.

I special ordered one of the main sizes but it was pricey. Even more expensive is the whole kit.
then found myself needing a smaller one, so I made it from a paper clip. You have to be careful/gentle to use it, and it's not quick, but it works. Not bad for a paperclip.
Saved the video though, maybe one day.

I run B7 A4 rears on my B6 and I use the stock B6 handbrake cable, fits perfectly. S4 rears I dont know but I run them on my B7 with the stock A4 B7 cables. I just took the cable out of one of the rear braket.

Interior trim should be a one-to-one swap (headliner, etc), as I've swapped B6 S4 trim into my B7 A4.

And the "ring thingy" is the clock spring.

B6 S4 seats are a direct swap, B7 S4/RS4 seats I believe are directly swappable as well, but B6 -> B7 requires extra work because of the bladder on the passenger seat.

get yourself a Dension bluetooth module for RNS-E (make sure it's for a B6) and call it a day. Plus then you get bluetooth streaming music as well

Good post. I don't see any B5 parts listed so far. As an owner who has had both cars, the following comes to mind:

    B5 S4 Brakes
    B5 Spring Perches
    01E 6-speed Transmission (B5 S4)

B5 rear diffs with appropriately geared transmission are compatible

edit: with this rear diff you'll also need to use a b5 propshaft, as the diff is longer than the b6 version

B8 front seats are swappable with some wiring hacks (splice, or swap connectors)

B5 rear differential are NOT compatible with any B6/7. The B5 Quattro rear differential casing incorporates a long extential / tail, which the B6/7 don't. This gives the B5 a lot shorter propshaft.

You are right about the differential length. I should have added they'd need the b5 propshaft as well. Ive seen a couple threads here with both being used on a b6

The whole B7 suspension fits in a B6. Knuckles, steering rack, brakes, control arms, dampeners.

B8 S4 front calipers and discs are a sompletely bolt-on affair, no machining, grinding or drilling required.

S4 B6-B7 calipers are bolt-on to B8 but you'll need S4 B8 discs... Does anyone know what vag car door mirrors are bolt-on to B6-B7 (except RS4 B7)?

For the B7 center console using the B7 ebrake assembly make sure to get the front longer bolt securing the ebrake assembly for the B7 donor.

There is a similar thread in the B7 section from which you guys can get info/ideaa

B6 accepts the ESP, Storage Bin, and Cup holder from a B7 with the chrome trim, just have to make sure its the the storage bin with the left opening for the additional button, not the right. So only model year 06.
