New post face lift flat bottom wheel

One of my biggest pet peeves on this car.. the wimpy stock steering wheel. I finally took the plunge. I purchased this from another forum member, thanks to FATBREMBOS.

The install was not bad after figuring out what needed to be re-pinned. AJACKSA4 was a huge help in guiding me into the right direction. So I wanted show some more detailed pics for anyone else doing this install.

    Some tips

    - Be very careful when de pinning, when you use the tool to unclip the wire it should just pretty much slide out without any resistance. I used a combination of the depinning tool and paper clips and needle.

    - To make the new steering wheel work in the rs4 simply swapping the yellow connectors. All wires stay in the same locations, so you need to reuse the yellow connector with the purple side clip.

    - I think the main bolt that holds the steering wheel down is torqued to 50nm, I didn't get a new bolt just some loctite.

I just absolutely love this mod, takes a little getting used to the flat bottom. The red stitching matches perfect my red and black leather. The controls also work as normal.

I'm really not sure exact model, there are so many. I just liked how it looked and matched with my interior. Maybe steering guru's will chime in..

This is a factory rs4 b8.5 steering wheel. You can have them ordered without paddles. If anyone is interested just send me a dm

Pretty cool. Do you have to recode anything?

Sweet. Thank you for sharing detailed info on this. Since my wallet seems to have lost sight of supercharger due to most recent "maintenance" bill, this is more in my grasp now :) Who needs performance. As soon as you said that steering wheel controls work, I was hooked. PMing now
Switched to Tesla and have never been happier. No more shady mechanic bills and excuses - oil top off before an oil change is normal or dealing with outdated forums that have image size limitations. And no more dealing with vendors that do not provide horsepower numbers but sell you random things by labeling them as performance parts. No more dealing with the Audi dealership and having to buy custom Audi specific tools. Wow. I can't believe I lived through all of this. Money pit.

Anyone know if the Euro B7 RS4 FBSW needs to be de-pinned like this newer wheel ? or is it more plug n play ? I'm frustrated about the Airbag recall on my RS4 which is on the passengers side so I'm considering selling it but if I decide to keep it, a FBSW will be my next mod.

Amazing how it transforms the car. Euro buckets and you're done. Very nice !! I have that wheel on my 15 S4 and its ergonomically spot on.

    Thanks for sharing this DIY.

Euro wheel plugs right in. Might need to do some coding. This wheel is out of the B8.5 line, you could order this type of stitching on the S models and RS models.

This might a stupid question, but if you need to re-use the yellow connector with the purple side clip from the original B7 RS4 wheel/airbag on the b8.5 wheel/airbag to make it work with the B7 RS4 then does the B7 RS4 wheel/airbag become useless?

If so, is it possible to just buy the yellow connector with the purple side clip (the one from B7 rs4 wheel/airbag) at the dealer or somewhere online? Anyone have a part number?

Good question, there were part numbers on the clip but I didn't look for them. This would be a lot easier then needing to de pin both clips.

I would just swap the clip if I turn back to stock.

Good to know . A friend of mine has a Euro one on hold for me since he's decided not to use it on his WB S4 Avant. Thanks Alex.
