Replacing Stock Suspension - guidance appreciated

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm going to replace the stock suspension on my 2010 A4, with 97,000 miles.
It's our daily driver, not looking for any lowering or performance upgrades.
    Planning on Bilstein OE struts/shocks.
    Questions:
    1) Any input on alternatives to Bilstein I may want to consider? If so, why do you think?
    2) What other hardware to I need to buy for the installation, if any? i.e. install kits? Bump stops?...
    3) While I'm in there, do you suggest any other work? (FYI, did front bearings at 65k mi.)

    Thanks!
    KP

OK, here's an update with follow up questions.

    * Ordered KYB GR-2/Excel-G shocks/struts
    * Bought the install kits (new mounts, bolts, etc); seemed prudent based on mileage

Appreciate any input on the following.

    1) Any experience w/ the KYB products I ordered? Appreciate any feedback.
    2) I considered going w/ Koni yellows (though much more expensive), but was advised they are designed for lowering springs - and not recommended with my current, stock springs. Any experience on this (Koni yellow on stock A4 springs)? I'm looking for a nice, reliable system for longevity and comfort - not looking for lower height.
    3) What should I look at while doing this project? This is our daily driver and looking to keep it running well for another 100k+

    Appreciate any input - thanks!

I haven't replaced my stock setup yet but will soon with my lowering springs. The install should be fairly straight forward. With the install kit you got everything should be good. I know your car will appreciate it. I plan on doing bilstien for mine with new springs

Koni Yellows will work on sport suspension springs, but aren't recommended for the non-sport springs. If they're available yet, I believe Koni FSD's are designed for that ride height.

Honestly, if you're looking for a cushy ride I wouldn't recommend the Yellows. I have them set to the softest setting and still find it to ride a bit harsher than the stock sport shocks. I've also had FSD's on another car and found them to be a lot more forgiving, but definitely a bit on the floaty side.

Best thing to do is to not cheap out on suspension if you're looking for ride quality on a daily driver. I had to switch between a few setups to get the ride back to decent in my wife's Jetta. Learned the hard way on that one.

Thanks - I appreciate the input from both...

I definitely don't want to go cheap, but I don't want a stiff setup either. Seems most cost adders are for sport setups w/ lowering springs (other than FSD). My wife is primary driver and she likes the stock feel - actually, I'm happy with it for the most part too...though it's feeling a little tired now; which is understandable.
