Any issues to expect on an out of warranty FL A4? ( 2013 )

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    hey guys

my daily got totaled a few days ago and im in the market for a new ( used ) daily. strongly considering the a4. im looking at a 2013 a4 w/ 38k miles and it is out of warranty. car fax shows a clean record and all service done. only thing that might not have been done is a recall, but im sure we can get that fixed no problem and with no cost

I had a 2011 a5 with 56k miles before I sold it and had absolutely no issues

anyone here know any known problems or had experience problems when you are out of warranty, or around the same mileage as around 38k?

if theres a chance it may be a headache, ill just pick up a brand new car instead, though it would probably be a cheap Japanese car

    thanks!

Get your mechanic do a inspection and if its worth your money ask the dealer if they would offer a CPO warranty on it if its a dealer sale.38,000 miles is low milage car and should still have some warranty left no?.

this is at an audi dealer

I can for sure ask them to do a PPI. im more thinking of "potential" and "future" issues that is known as the car gets older

I don't believe there is any warranty left as the car is over 3 years old. isn't standard warranty 3 years/45k miles?

4 years and 50,000 miles so you're probably out of warranty, unless the car was a holdover or something and took a long time to get off the dealer's lot. Any Audi dealer should be able to tell you the car's history going by your VIN.

I think the new car warranty is 4/50 now, but a 2013 would likely be just out of warranty since it was probably sold late 2012 or early 2013. Generally speaking though the facelift cars are fine from a reliability standpoint, you shouldn't have much to worry about. It's in the buyer's guide.

Since you saw Carfax, there is day car was first registered , your warranty should be 4 yrs from that date.

Warranty is about to be up

Checked it out today. Solid car. Slight scrape on the front bumper, little nick on the fender and a tiny penny size dent on the rear passenger door otherwise body looked really mint. Asking 22.5. Will offer 20 and work from there

Depends on how it was maintained. If the car ever got sludge build up, it can cause problems. PCV valve failure, excess crankcase pressure, blown gaskets and seals. The big money one is the rear main.

If it's been well maintained with the proper oil and change interval, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I bought my B8 at a Honda dealer. It had an oil change just before I bought it and 5k miles later I got oil lights popping up. When I drained it, I had sludge build up coming out. I'm assuming they used motor oil that wasn't VW approved. Probably not synthetic, maybe wrong viscosity. Shortly after, PCV valve failed, front crank seal blew, rear main seal leaked, and valve cover seal blew.

Aside from the sludge and consumption problem, these cars are stout. The sludge problem is preventable. I wouldn't buy a car that has the consumption problem.

Service records seems really clean and indicates that he was in the dealer for scheduled maintenance on time.

Hey, that 13 A4 looks like its at Brooklyn Audi; if so they have a 2014 (color is blue on brown) with warranty AND less miles for same price-; unless it sold recently, its on their site today. seems to be an S-Line also. good luck in your car shopping......
