    B7 rs4 engine motor cracked block

    Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Bought this engine and when the engine arrived to my mechanic shop the block was cracked. The seller will not give me a refund and I will take whatever back. Engine is located in California Santa Ana

    Id be more inclined to say it was a front end accident that hit the AC compressor. Have seen a couple like that.

    Also lets see the walls on your current block. Bore scopes don't tell much.

    oh it's in the RS4 section, I don't venture in there much lol.

    You have three options:

    1)Swap your girdle/bedplate/main cap assembly over from your current oil burning engine. Be sure to check bearing color markings and clearances. (easiest course of action)

    2) find ANOTHER engine

    3) have your engine bored 1 to 2thou over and re-etched with sunnen AN30 paste then order custom lower compression pistons and boost the bitch.

    Impossible, Ebay usually side with buyer. Just open a case and let them take care it. If he claim shipping damage then let him file a claim.

    man, that def sucks... lots of lessons learned on this one, unfortunately - and people suck regardless.

    If it was truly "shipping damage" you should be able to claim that against the shipper. Might be worth going this route and see what happened. There should be some sort of insurance. That being said, you'd also probably see pieces of metal laying around the pallet too! The only other thing you have for you is a small claims court, but it'll turn into a "he said she said" fiasco.

    If it was a bracket or lower oil pan or something to that extent, I'd offer parts off my scored BNS block... but alas, don't think that'd help you based on pix.

    I usually play a little more detective
    Is there a VIN or serial number on the motor, run the VIN against Carfax or reach out to Audi of America to see if it was in an Audi dealership for service and see if that determined a failed engine...
    Funny thing that someone has been trying to sell an RS4 convertible with cracked block from a mishift for a while, I just saw it relisted not too long ago without motor
