Continental DWS 06 versus Michelin Pilot Sport

I need to replace the Pirelli P6 Four Seasons on my Avant. What's your opinion on the DWS 06 versus the Pilot Sport?

On a separate question, my current tires are 245/45R17, so why does Tire Rack's tire finder try to direct me to 225/50R17s? Just curious.

I can't compare but my 06's have been great. Very quiet too.

Both are great all-season tires. The DWS06 has a more aggressive tread pattern and handles snow a bit better while the PS A/S 3 Plus has the edge on dry surfaces. Continental's warranty is slightly better w/1yr road hazard. Tread life is a toss-up but 45-50k miles is most likely only achievable for either of these tires under ideal circumstances/conditions.

Thank you both. The roads in my area are not smoothly paved and we have frequent snow, with many applications of road salt. Durability is an issue.

After my last experience with Continentals ------ never again. I had great luck with Yokohama Advan Sport A/S. Got 40k on them. Currently have Yoko YK740 GTX's on --- they seem pretty good. They will get their first snow test on Friday.
