Has anyone had to replace CV boots?

Sold my B8 S4 to a buddy of mine several months ago. Car has 45k miles and when recently taking car in for service, the tech said motor mounts and CV boots need replaced. I am obviously familiar with the motor mount issues with these cars but CV boots? Has anyone had to replace theirs? Especially at this low mileage? Car has spent majority of it's days in Florida and Texas, very flat terrain.

Starting to think the tech is full of sh*t given lack of responses. Car only has 46k miles

CV boots go bad. It's unlikely at that mileage but not impossible. They can suffer mechanical damage from rocks, sticks, etc. If you don't trust the tech, get under the car and check them. If they're leaking or cracked, they need to be replaced asap or you'll just end up trashing the cv joints.
