Lost at which MMI..everything I've found contradicts (2012 S4, NAV, Canadian Market)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    New to me, bought it a month ago. It's a 2012 S4 with Navigation, it's a Canadian car so it's not a facelift, still a B8 (not B8.5). Is it a MMI 3G plus?

-It looks like a High res screen (when compared to my old 2010 A4 no nav)
-I have the little joystick on the section knob.
-I don't believe it has google maps.
    -I can select 3D maps
-Maps in system are dated 2011
-Has the Jukebox icon on screen, not sure if it has a HDD. I tried to import a song to jukebox from iphone but asked if I wanted to import to SD Card..never gave the option to import to HDD?
-It has adaptive damping and sport diff, has rear PDC but NO backup camera.
-Has hands-free bluetooth but no bluetooth audio streaming.

From my understanding, NA market had preface lift cars in 2012 and ROW had facelift cars, what I find contradicting is which MMI the S4's had for 2012 in Canada(same as USA I assume..but which model)?

Reason I'm asking is I what to update the maps (either dealer or stuff online, I've got a lot of reading still on this)..and what to figure my options to make bluetooth streaming possible (either some MMI adapter plug or some kind of retrofit..I want to show all the info on screen as is when plugged to iphone)...Just where I get mislead is on the MMI part for 2012.

    Any help would be great!!

One option is to just retrofit 3G+. If you don't have bluetooth streaming, I think you just have the preFL 3G high. The retrofit is incredibly easy for you as it's just a matter of getting the MMI unit (Infiltrator has a really good build thread with PN's), swapping them, and getting component protection removed from the dealer. It's probably a little more expensive than a dongle, but I'm fairly confident it'll be a better solution, and the 3G+ with the piano black inlay looks nicer anyway (and the cost would not be much since you probably wouldn't need to update the maps on a newer unit). It would be recommended but not absolutely necessary to also replace the control panel with the MMI buttons/knob, also a quick and easy swap (no CP needed on this one).

The facelift change happened in the middle of 2013.
Surprised you don't have the backup camera?
There is a guy from China that hundreds of us have ordered from and installed perfectly.
OEM quality. You would never know it wasn't factory.
About 2-3 hours to install and it's only $250 give or take.

All Canadian S4's with Nav would have the backup camera with the exception of those made following the Japan tsunami due to a shortage of parts. Given its a 2012, this seems to line-up.

I thought B8 was 2010-2013 and B8.5 was 2014+ but maybe it did change mid-2013?

Yah, I just read about the tsunami causing the shortage in parts from Japan, time line matches up perfectly. If the camera parts were not available, do you think all the wiring is there? So really just a camera hook up(plug-and-play) and code with vagcom?

Not entirely true. Mine is a 2014, Nav, no backup. On the topic, can I get the info on this retrofit kit too?

Yup Canadian 2013 here (arrived late 2013) Nav but no backup camera, also don't think it has google maps.

Retrofit info would be greatly appreciated!

This thread talks about the reverse camera kit.
I installed one and told a friend and it works perfectly.

Eron's email is post #418. Order the kit from China and install it yourself!

What if there was a way to completely bypass symphonys, concerts, MMI2/3G Highs & Lows, etc and (almost) instantly upgrade your B8 to a B9:

I've been following Daniel's progress for some time and what he has achieved almost single handedly is nothing short of exceptional... Have a look...
