Where to purchase a used b7 rs4 engine

I purchased a rs4 car about a half year ago and the engine wasn't holding compression. Found out that the cylinder heads were damage. Now I need to find a used engine. Been looking but no luck. Any ideas will help. The car has been in the shop for almost a half a year because of this issue.

Best bet usually is eBay

Check in with AutoHaas in NJ.. I got a bunch of RS4 engine components from them, and they see long block come through occasionally. Also check www.car-part.com.. and the obvious, ebay.

There are enough wrecked R8 4.2's out there , so you can look for one of those as well. GL.

I tried researching about that but I heard the block is not completely the same.
If anyone needs any parts off my rs4 motor, let me know. Trying to recoup any amount

R8 4.2 engines are the same as the RS4. Only difference between the two engines is the dry sump.

The user "Mc Suly" is running an R8 engine in his RS4.

And then you have to pay for installation, while you can get a used RS4 for low 20's (and possibly sell the rolling rs4 for who knows how much)

depends on milage but they range around 5500 to 9000$

Other note: R8 block if you can find one, McSully went thru two of them so no question comparability, it's matter where to find one for good price. Good luck Dave

what shape is your lower end in(short block)? I may need one. I will know for sure after this weekend when i drop the pan.

I think I misunderstood you. In the original post you say cly head but the pic are pistons so nevermind if that pic is of your motor. I most likely will be looking for a short block if anybody has one.

So a rolling RS4 (w/o motor) would be worth maybe 10-14K I would imagine?

Someone can buy a shell and drop a motor in all around 23k. Not bad really with a fresh motor.

That block might be trash. If you look close the block also has a chunk out of it in the same section, there is a coolant passage right there.
