Alternatives to VCDS Logging - Torque maybe?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm looking to just check in on knock retard and IATs. Possible to just use torque?

I don't have any other use for a cable, just looking to see if the car works as expected.

    Wishful thinking?

Vcds is prob the minimum in terms of useable logging. The bluetooth apps are terribly slower than even vcds. Vcds is pretty cheap considering you can sell them for good money. Prob cost u 100 bucks to use it in the end

This is exactly my thought. I used to use dash command and OBD fusion (which is better btw). It was so laggy that good logging was really not possible. Bought a vag com and although there is a learning curve, you get so much more info and even see the soft codes that the others don't show. I figure that I can always resell it. You should also check out obdeleven though, which I started a thread about before. I probably would have got it but it was not out yet at the time.

Ignoring lag, can it record a peak number for something like IATs?

Hard to say bc it will miss so many datapoints compared to even vcds. It will record a peak data point but this may not be the actual peak datapoint that occurred. That likely got skipped. Remember that its not lag but actual resolution. Its going to be collecting less datapoints not just lagging in collecting them.

Its kind of like how vcds cant be used for reading knock voltages directly, instead we just measure knock corrections. Knock voltage spikes occur way too instantaneously / quickly that a vcds log is not going to pick it up... which is fine bc thankfully we can see the results of them which is retard.

Torque is great for keeping an eye on things on the fly when hooning around, but VCDS is needed for accurate usable logs

Too bad we no longer have access to ECUx from APR. Although you can download it...
