audi oil consumption lawsuit voided with apr stage 2 tune?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hey all i was wondering if anyone can give me an insight on what im afraid is going to be a big problem. so today as i was driving i check my engine oil indicator and it shows empty. it doesnt say to add oil or anything. i just changed my oil at 37k im now at 40k. i have 1 2011 audi a5 2.0t so i went to the dealer and ask them to check it they said i might have to do an oil consumption test. i told them is the warranty voided if i have a tune and they told me to try to put it back to stock. so i dont know what to do right now hoping someone can help me. do i go back to the apr dealer and have my stage 2 put back in stock and i will have the cel error or do i remove the downpipe and replace it with the stock and put it back from stage 2 to stock? my car hasnt experience any problems at all except for noticing that the oil level indicator is showing its empty. thanks for reading and hope anybody can help me.

My 2008 A4 was chipped when they did the oil test. They did the rings, etc, without any comment on my chip. Over the years my dealer has actually installed a lot of my mods... The overall word was if the issue is not mod related, than it won't come up. The oil consumption thing on 2.0s is very KNOWN, so they should just check the oil and ignore your mods. This is a factory defect!

So, did the dealer verify that the oil was indeed low and not just a defective level sensor?

Audi's detection methods have come a long way. A few people recently have been flagged TD1 even if they had their tune removed from the ECU (not just switched back to the "stock" program). The scan will likely be required by Audi of America before approving the repair regardless of how mod friendly the dealership is. On the bright side, your dealer seems to be ok with the tune as long as you remove it for the oil consumption test. Maybe you will get lucky.

I noticed that my oil level indicator wasn't showing anything. I had oil change at 37k now I'm at 40k but it doesn't say anything about adding oil and I don't see anything wrong with my car. The dealership just assumed that I may have the oil consumption problem. I'm about to take down my Apr downpipe and flash it back to stock
Hoping it helps. kinda scared tbh

I hope the same thing goes for me where I don't have to pay anything

Wouldn't it be easier to install a dipstick and check it manually, monitor it yourself over a couple thousand miles vs flashing back to stock, removing downpipe, etc just because the dealerships first reaction is to conduct a consumption test? If you determine that you are using more oil than you think you should, then absolutely remove the mods and have them do the test. That's what I would do anyway.
And if your oil level is good, then you have a faulty oil level sensor that should be replaced under warranty regardless of mods.

Thank You! I'll keep this in mind. also I'm new to Audi, for oil change what is the service interval? every 5k or 10k miles?

Hi guys I'm new to Audizine as far as ever making any comments until now. I'm in desperate need of some reasonable intellectual opinions please? my names nick and ill try to keep this as brief as possible. Ive had an oil consumption issues with my 2013 audi a5. ive taken it over a dozen times to the dealer.
1st time oil light comes on all they do is top it off saying that it was a quart shy, mind you I just finished doing an oil change 2 weeks prior.
2nd time a week later same issue they topped it off saying that that's normal the car consuming oil like that
3rd time I'm starting to spas out there lying to me. "don't go by the digital gauge just go off of the low oil light indicator and that they'll use there dip stick to check it.(what a load of crock)
4th visit they said they'll perform an oil consumption test number 1. a week and 1/2 later the light comes back on I take it back
5th visit they conduct 2nd oil consumption test which it fails.they tell me that one of the pistons is damaged and that ill need a new engine.
6)visit 2 days later after engine replacement while coming back from ny my car stalls and dies on me on the George Washington bridge while doing 60 mph.week later here I am after brand new engine replacement the oil just disappeared again and I'm scheduled to go back on Monday to see whats going on. do I have that bad of luck here guys? btw the engine has literaly zero mods or been touched for nothing other than an oil change. what can it be if even the Audi tech gods cant fix it? am I driving an obvious lemon here?

oh yes I have an on going case as we speak. how can you change to a brand new engine and still have the same issue unless nothing was changed correct? just saying something to think about but I don't think they'd put there reputation on the line for that.

On our 2011 q5 2.0, every dealership flat out declined to do the piston rings because our car was flagged TD1. They would all do the first stage of the oil consumption test, but when it came down to replacing the piston and rings they declined the warranty work. Our oil consumption was getting so bad that we had to put in a quart of oil every gas fill up. This was over a year ago that I went through all of this with AoA, so not sure if Audi's standpoint on this has changed. We ended up trading the car in.

what a shame with all of these problems. Such a reputable car company and what makes it worst is that I'm beyond a loyal customer with them this is my third one.

The 2.0t engine is a POS...well the pistons are anyways. No way is it limited to the 2009 to 2011 cars either. I went through the same thing and Audi wouldnt cover it because it was prior to the class action and them admitting that over 126,000 engines they put in their cars were crap (and was likely many many more).

I bought my 2011 A5 from a European Pre-Owned Auto Dealer about 6 months ago. Think an Audi dealership will fix anything for free?

if you want it warrantied put it back to stock and dont give them a reason to Deny it, but this is a hit or miss as i have seen.
if the dealer told you to put it back to stock it looks like they are willing to work with you but if audi comes back and says no TD1 then you are footing
the bill cus the dealer is not going to do it for free.

They told me to take off my exhaust and put the stock exhaust back on and also replace the ECU before they would "Consider" it.
