    Fuel Smell in Cabin

I've noticed on the past two fill-ups that there has been a distinct smell of fuel in the cabin when the tank is full. It disappears around the 3/4 tank mark. I've checked the engine bay with the car running and have not seen or smelled any fuel, same goes for the rear. No fluid has been seen on the ground.

My running theory is maybe a bad seal at the fuel pump, and when the tank is full gas is passing through the seal

I do have an aftermarket powertrain warranty, but I'd like to get an idea of what might be wrong before taking it in to Audi.

    The car:

    Thanks!

The top covers of the fuel tank are under your rear bench. Just lift it up and take it out (it's clicked in position via 2 plastic brackets). Could be that you find traces of fuel there under the bench or covers.

Finally got around to taking the covers off. This is what I found under the driver's side panel. I believe this to be the problem as you can see the small traces of fuel mixed with the dirt. I'm guessing where this clip goes needs replaced? (I didn't take it apart further). I'm not entirely sure what I was looking at.

Cracked fuel pressure sending unit was the culprit. Being replaced at Audi right now.
