I'm no expert but I'm fairly certain you need to weld in panels. That is, unless you're going for that stance life.

Homie, what was going on? You were trying to do the second firewall delete, goin good, even got your steel cut on the ends of the valley for a nice buffer then all of a sudden I can't mount my suspension? Hahaha

Seriously though, no, no bondo. Gonna need to fab up plates to insert and find yourself a welder.

    Obvious troll is obvious...

BUT I could smell the sarcasm a mile away. I am under the impression youre modifying the strut towers so you can go lower with air ride, yes? Something something upper control arms hit the strut tower?

    BINGO.

I couldn't help myself. This kind of stuff tends to get people on this forum all sorts of riled up.

I almost swapped back to a coil over setup because I hated airlift v2 management so much. I couldn't get away from that stance life so I ended up with their new 3H system.

    Anyways...

People tend to get too wrapped up in other people's builds that they forget that you build the car however you want, not how the internet wants :)

Im going air ride in a couple months and as much as I want to go low, Im not ready to cut up my strut towers. Props to you for committing to it. I'll live with my almost-low 3P system and be happy.

Not here to offer a solution, just interested in what solution you chose. I would love to do air ride but cutting the strut towers in order for the car to layout level has always deterred me.

Appreciate the kind words. People forget their are multiple roads to the same solution. So to speak.

Let me know when you're going to be buying if you haven't already. I can put you in contact with a rep that can save you some money pretty serious money, and maybe you'll be able to get those height sensors with the savings ;). Same guy I've bought through twice now.

It looks like we are going to do a cap type solution (well I'll be doing the bitch work anyways). We went for a larger cap because of the adjustable upper control arms I have. It would suck to do all that cuting, painting, and sealing just to find out that the arms shifted and were still bottoming out.

Here's some fun updates of me ruining my car. The caps are welded on both sides, and will be ground down, glued, and sealed before paint.

The rear tub was DESTROYED by whoever owned the car prior. So it's being cut out and a new modified one is going in place.

Engine bay was painted yesterday. Undercoating finished(ish) today.

Wouldn't be a fun day without crushing my finger. If only I could say that the reason I bled was because I did the most work. Definitely losing a nail.

Well 3/4 of my fingernail has grown back... does that count as an update?

But honestly, waiting on my subframes and rear suspension components to come back from powder coating. Hoping to have it on the ground this weekend. I'll post pictures then

Yeah. It's a c63 rep. Carbon is pretty good. Fitment is going to be tricky to get right, but too late now I suppose.

Here's some fun updates. The front wheels still don't flush out with the fenders in the pictures. This is because the upper control arms aren't adjusted correctly and they aren't sitting in the boxes properly. This will be fixed when it gets aligned.

Not sure how much closer it will get with 17" wheels though. I gained more control arm clearance (and now won't end up with bent end links on the 034 spherical upper arms), but with a larger front sway bar and a drive train stabilizer the front end is still going to sit up a bit. It would probably be more of an apparent difference with 18 or 19" wheels.

I also attached some pictures of where I installed the height leveling sensors for the airlift 3H system just for reference, if anyone is as dumb as I am and wants to try and install it....

Excited to see the results. The height sensors were tricky to install as you need the biggest range of motion you can get without over extending the sensor arm. I spent close to 20 hours running lines in the car and making sure that the height sensors wouldn't bind at any extreme suspension angle, while still giving me the best range. Fun stuff.

Great progress. Those rs' could use a bit more lip

Great choice on the brake caliper color.

Finished rear bumper, no exhaust yet though. Thought I'd share some pictures. Someone else has done a rear valance like this before but it was more rocket bunny style with rivets and the fitment. I can't take complete credit as I only did the final calk line and the rough fitment.

The factory lower valance was heated and massaged out to fit the lines of the c63 valance, and the tabs were clipped tight through the other side of the bumper skin.

Here's the bay with the modified firewall and the twins. Plenty of room for a nice single setup.

And finally, I pulled the rs's and picked up a set of 19x9 et42 LM250s. Reverse mounted the faces for the rear wheel and they fit perfect. Need a 10mm spacer to fit the front and clear my 17z's. Not sure if I'll be able to get away with reverse mounting the fronts because of this.. based on some crude measurements I think I'll be off by about 3mm. I might just have the mounting lip of the face machined down 3mm if it's that close of a fit.

Stock or aftermarket DTS? I think the stock is thinner and allows you to go lower?

At ride height with adjustable control arms I should be able to pull off -2 degrees of camber. So not terrible. Reasons for going with the height sensors is so that it's consistent.

Bro ride done right will let you run a good/consistent alignment and still let you look like a giant *** when you air out your car at the grocery store. Not easy to do though. I have so many hours into trial and error with height sensors and running the management system.

It's an awe DTS. Much further down than the factory one. I'm not willing to give it up for that extra 3/4 of an inch, believe it or not.

Shouldn't run into any issues now that I have a 19" wheel though. It was just an issue with the 17" wheels and rubber band tires.
