    Pullled some codes, one was right front subwoofer not working.

    And it's not working. Anyone run into this? Never had a car that would tell me a speaker was out. Wonder how it knows? That would help me track down the problem.

    Disconnect the aires from the amp to the sub. You can use a battery (1.5v or 9v) to test the sub. Just connect the battery to the terminal of the sub.

    More than likely the speaker wiring is ka-put, but well enough to transmit a signal somtimes.

    When I brought my 08 A4 home I had blown front left subwoofer on the code and it worked intermittently. I took the speaker out of the door and you could see the speaker wire fabric was eroded at the point where it's held tight against the speaker (hard to describe, and I didn't take any pictures ...) Testing the speaker at the actual coil showed standard resistance though so I knew the speaker was fine.

    Fixed simply by soldering on a new lead from the coil to the terminal. Speaker works fine now :)
