    Handbrake disconnected?

    Hello fellow Audiziner,
I have replace my rear brakes and removed the caliper also for inspection.

However, I have pushed against the "ball" of the e-brake, heard like it disconnected, or became loose, ... then reassembled everything and the e-brake wont engage. One side of the ball e-brake wire is now too long.

I dont get what happened, more specificly where to look!

Did you pump the brake pedal up to get the piston back out? When you say the e brake won't engage go you mean it won't keep your car parked or you have slop in the handle?

Ebrake is basicly useless, pulling it will not cause any resistance.

But is their resistance on the e brake handle when you pull on it or is it loose.

It looks like you parking brake is applied in the picture. If your parking brake is released and it looks like that then your lever isn't returning which would cause a sloppy e brake handle. It's common for the levers to start to seize up over time and not return to there released position after being applied.

AH, I removed the rear passenger ashtray to have a look under the e-brake. The hook on the driver side moved out of position... more wrenching it is.

    Thank for the help!
