    VCDS lowering failed

Yesterday I had all my Eurocode parts installed on my MY16 S6 and the car feels much more planted on the road now. At the same time my shop tried to lower my car using VCDS. Three of the corners had no problem going 17mm lower but one would not do 17mm, 15mm, or 12mm. So they put all four corners back to the original ride height. The corner that did not work already had 401.90mm while the other three were between 385.70mm and 394.50mm. Perhaps I try again myself with some smaller numbers (e.g. 4-10mm) if I can find a perfectly level area. The guy at my shop suggested lowering links and discouraged lowering modules. He told me a buddy of his installed a lowering module and doing so fried the ECU. Also, lowering links are much cheaper than a lowering module. Any advice from folks out there who have lowering links? Which brand should I get and do they require re-calibration of the driver assistance sensors and/or cameras? Also, any advise how I could still get the VCDS to work (perhaps lower incrementally rather that trying to do it in one step?) or lowering links vs. lowering module?

there has to be more to the story than what he knows or is telling- I can't imagine why the ASC Module would fry an ECU- I love mine, no issues at this point, I know there are guys on here that have had theirs much longer than I have and no complaints (other than some nuanced user interface issues and sometimes slow response times) that I'm aware of.

If you have Vagcom do a full scan and see if any codes related to air suspension come up.

Why? He ran the service department of an Audi dealership before he opened his own very reputable shop. He is highly recommended on the regional Audizine forum and I have no reason to believe that he doesn't know what he is talking about.

I had a similar issue. After going through the VCDS suspension calibration process, it was fine.

The maximum value for an S6 is 414 and 413.9 might round up to 414...not sure...so may need to go to 10 to be safe...That's what I did.

If you care about how your car handles don't go much lower than a 10mm drop. After that, the air suspension is too soft versus the shocks and the steering/suspension geometry starts to suffer.

I had a little anomaly with my suspension too. My left front was consistently 9mm lower than the right front. This was before doing any work with VCDS. It came that way from the factory. I measured many times on many different surfaces, including some surfaces that I am sure were flat. I ultimately adjusted my numbers for the left front to get it fixed. I am not sure why the car was delivered this way. But it's fixed now and the car drives better. Even though the difference was 9mm I only adjusted the value by 6mm. If you try to do more than that you'll likely end up chasing your tail. Also, you're probably never going to get the ride height perfect. But you might get it set better than the factory.
