When do you replace your fuel pumps?

Since my RS4 now has 124k miles on it, I'm looking to do some preventative maintenance in the very near future. I plan to replace all 8 injectors and do a carbon clean since I don't have records of when (or if) they were last done.

However, I haven't read much about guys replacing their fuel pumps (HPFPs especially) as a preventative measure. Are these components that the RS4 needs to have monitored, and if so when do people typically replace them?

I've replaced mine a couple times but only because the solenoid valve on the unit started throwing codes. I don't think there's any reason to do them early if they're working properly. Maybe piece of mind, but they're a quick and easy replacement once codes start popping up or you start to notice issued.

If you have access to a vag-com cable (if not I would recommend you get) you can monitor the pump duty cycle and rail pressure under Engine[01] - group 140

There you can see the duty cycle of the LPFP and the requested/actual rail pressure. If these numbers deviate then you know that something is up with one of the 3 pumps. If they are all working fine, I would leave them in your place and only change the fuel filter.
