Audi RS4 Honeycomb Grill with Custom Metal Mesh for B8 and B8.5

    Hey Audizine,

Another one of my DIYers offered to THE Audi enthusiast community. As many proud RS4 owners know, the RS4 honeycomb grill is aggressive however would be even more so if it was blacked out (not to mention the added benefit of blocking out the rock from hitting the radiator, another gripe we complain about). My solution, this custom epoxy coated metal mesh. The custom service will cost $350 (10 hours of labor plus 80 for materials) dollars if you have the RS4 grill and want me to do the custom job on yours. If you want me to purchase the grill for you it would be in addition to the cost of purchasing and shipping the grill to you. You can also bring the grill you want to have this installed onto as well if you live locally. I can install the grill onto your car as well for extra, again if you live locally. This service is offered for the B8 and the B8.5 and is offered year round. I am willing to ship it to you as well, price varies depending on where you live. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or concerns.

It takes you ten hours to jb weld some metal mesh to the back of an RS grille after cutting it to size? Neat alternative to just the standard fix of the screen over the radiator

    Hey mlavelle92,

I know it sounds pretty crazy for this to be a 10 hour job, but when you have to tie each honeycomb with thread to make sure it is flush...it puts a smile on my face everytime I look at my grill. The devil is in the details I say...Thanks for commenting.

    Hey Dnovakovic04,

Sorry for the late reply. I have more information about the S-Line Honeycomb fog covers listed here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...Foglight-Grill

I can also ship you out the pre-cut versions of the honeycomb mesh and you would have to install it yourself. Put in another 6 hours to save you some guap? To each his own I say. Send me a PM if you are still interested. Thanks for commenting.

Im talking about completely deleting the b8.5 foglights and just replacing the cavity with honeycomb mesh , to give it that rs4/rs5 look.

Wouldnt this significantly reduce airflow to the heat exchanger? I like the idea of protecting it from rocks small enough to get through the RS4 honeycomb pattern, but this seems like it will reduce the air speed quite a bit.

Yes exactly , I had bought some mesh but don't know how to form it into the shape then also secure it into the bumper. I was thinking of cutting up around the edges of my grills utilizing the factory tabs and somehow glue the mesh into the frame . But another thing to consider is the slight curve which probably would have to use some heat to form that bend.

    Hey amrs4,

Never thought of that. I prefer the oem look better just needs to be improved with the open honeycombs. Some b8 aftermarket or b8.5 oem has the honeycombs but are filled in. To each his own.

    Hey Fromragstos4,

Props to your user name btw. I dont think it will produce a significant reduction in flow. If anything, compared to the oem s4 grill, this rs4 with mesh should have more flow. The mesh is breathable does allow flow. Dont quote me on that as i am noy a tech or engineer. If someone knows or have the tools to test lmk.

Thought I give an update to one of the cool features you can do to your custom honeycomb mesh as well:add license plate magnets for those pesky minute maids when you are parking in the city. In SF, where I am near, minute maids will ticket you if you dont have a front license plate. Thus came this life hack. Done before by others im sure, but with the metal mesh the magnets can be installed inconspicuously on a rs4 grill.
