    Low oil pressure

So I had the low oil pressure light turn on in my Audi did some research and saw that it could be the oil pump. I read up on the replacement of this part and it seemed to be a hassle. The car has about 172,000 miles I read that it could be a sender unit as well but I deleted that option because when I was driving to park it for the winter it seemed to want to lock up. I started getting the oil pump out and inspected it. I saw some debris on the oil pickup tube, But I don't know how much is too much, would just a little bit send the light on or would it have to be a fully clogged. we also got some oil and spun the pump manually it seemed to work fine. I thought it could be the oil filter as well cause it seemed to start when I replaced the oil filter and I just started using fram for my other vehicles. any input would be great. and the oil filter you use.
    Thanks.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I took my oil pan off hoping to find the pick up tube was clogged with debris but only had a little debris on the screen. After thinking about it for awhile I went back out and looked at the oil pan. There was about 1/2 of a cup of oil in the pan. I decided to dump the oil into my oil bucket when I noticed a chunk of something. I stopped and dumped the rest of the oil through a screen. There was about a table spoon of debris when I was done. I think that would clog up the pick up tube screen. As of right now I'm leaning toward the cam shaft tensioner for the source of the plastic debris. Although others have suggested the dipstick tube. Good luck .with your problem
