05 Allroad Instrument Cluster problems

Alright, so, my 4.2L automatic, when i put the key in, says:

"PRESS CLUTCH PEDAL TO START ENGINE"


and, once I start the engine, it shows the oil pressure sensor and brake pad alert (pictured). It also beeps loudly a few times.


The car runs and drives fine, shifts through all of the gears, speedometer functions, overall works fine, except the cluster (no tach signal either). I bought a VAGCOM cable, and when I go into the programming for 17-Instruments, it shows it is correctly coded as:

04283

(04,2,83)
(MY 02+ Allroad tires, USA, 8 cylinder gas)


Also, i checked, and it has the newest TCM and it is for the correct model number for this car: 4Z7-927-156-AA and it appears to have to correct soft coding for it's 01V transmission:

0000102


Can anyone make any guesses as to what's wrong? I pulled the carpet up to look at the TCM and it looks pristine. Also, in VCDS I can see the RPMs. I hope I can convince someone with an allroad to let me try putting their cluster into my car; we'll see.

Also, as a bonus piece of information, i emailed a cluster repair shop about my cluster and the reply might give extra insight:

The cluster will typically default to "manual" trans mode if it does not see a signal from the TCU (auto trans control unit). As far as I'm aware, there is no specific coding in that cluster for transmission type, only for ABS pertaining to manual or auto (adaptation CH60 - powertrain CAN bus). Also, the cluster used for manual or auto trans is the same.

Any fault codes in the transmission? The TCU is sometimes likely to flood with water from clogged drains. The oil pressure could simply be a sensor issue.

Why would you assume that the cluster was changed? If it was, you will have "double VIN" in the Extra field in 17-Instruments (when logging with ROSS TECH VCDS).

These clusters are very solid, and not likely to fail, with the exception of fading center LCD panel.
