    Rebuilding a 3.0t

I recently blew the head gasket in my car and am in the process of doing an engine swap. Now that I'll have a spare engine I'm considering rebuilding it and trying to squeeze some more HP out it.
Does anyone know a thing or two about moding the engine internals such as shaving the heads, port and polish, valves and or valve springs? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You would be a trailblazer in this situation. I would be interested to know what is out there as well. I am looking to buy a core motor and building it so when mine finally goes I can swap in the rebuilt motor.

Please follow the blog, this guy is from NY.

In my opinion, it is not possible to do a lot without custom parts and with the original alusil motor block. Is also very interesting that the CREC motor was modified(motorblock) see ssp624, and do not have the alusil cylinders anymore. And according to pics from the ssp seems to be the same motorblock as before with same dimensions 84.5 , crankshaft 65 etc.

But some things are interesting, for example the connecting rod has 153 mm and the conrod of 3.2 154mm, and the conrod of 2.7t has also 154mm. But then we need another piston etc. Sometimes I think in this direction. Also i think about outlet camshafts from the 2.4 BDW, but i do not have exact values of this camshaft. But this will not have any sense without bigger exhaust manifolds.
