Pretty sure plenty of guys have them and use the dealer, but I'm sure others can chime in.

If your worried about your warranty you probably shouldn't mod it.

Sc cooling system doesn't automatically void your warranty because it's not like a tune, which is detected automatically by the computer.
If your dealer guys are a**holes they can manually TD1 you when they see the cooling system. But I doubt they will do it.
My dealer guys said nothing about my revo cooling system since I'm always nice to them too. So far no TD1.

Should it? No. Will it? Yes.

Some kits throw a "ghost code" for the coolant pump that will show up on the scan. I could see that being trouble.

The only maybe is if the dealer will ignore it. Anything you do to a car these days will void the warranty. Period. Putting tires on that increase traction and cause more stress on a vehicle will void warranty.

Someone recently did a study of all manufacturers warranty related to racing and it's a good read. Really shows who backs up their performance cars and who doesn't. I personally think any car advertised on tracks and racing environments but not covered should be false advertisement and up for law suits.

    Rant over.

yeah "technically" they can td1 you over small shit but whatever i ithink the op has a valid question & unfortantely there is really no way of knowing wether this would upset perhaps a previously "loose service advisor / tech " .. fitzydude raises a pertinent point - will it throw a ghost code?

Its beyond visible if you raise the hood so the code would be the least of your issues. Most of us with an existing tune an warranty get the car unflashed before going in and have zero issues. Since this is a "physical" mod you cant hide I wasn't clear on what Audi would do. The reality is its safer for the car not the other way around but I know logic doesn't apply here.

I'll find out on Monday what Audi says about my coldfront system along with apr pulley, fluidampr pulley, suspension, wheels, ethanol sensor, short shifter/shift knob. Should be interesting, but so far they have been cool with my intake, exhaust and rs grill

    Keep us posted.

I always tell my dealer I am tuned and not to hook my car up to the computers. That worked fine in the past when I was stage I.

Since my last visit I've added an exhaust, crank pulley, SC pulley, coldfront, RS4 grille, brakes, spoilers, meth, lots of custom wiring, demon eyes, painted headlights, sways... My car is pretty clearly modified from every angle you look at it.

I think my days without TD1 are numbered.

Oh, did I mention my next service is the 35k one?

CUSTOMER: It was a freak incident. The engine let go while I was cruising on the highway.

AUDI REGIONAL TECH: Sir, we found an unauthorized aftermarket part on the car. Someone installed a large radiator that blocked your main engine radiator and we believe this led to higher engine temps that you were running consistently until the head gasket warped finally and you mixed oil and coolant and the engine failed. Do you want to pay cash or charge sir?

    Pay to play.

ANY, yes, ANY installed aftermarket part can void a warranty claim if it's deemed to have caused the failure. Even aftermarket wheels with an aggressive offset can be blamed for a suspension failure for example.
Will it automatically void your entire warranty? No. If your trunk latch fails they will have a very hard time blaming that on your front end cooling system.

If the integrity of your warranty is keeping you up at night then you probably shouldn't mod.

Agreed, its always been a matter of baby steps with each mod Ive added under warranty. Since the coolant system is beyond noticeable just was curious if anyone had any experience with the dealer. The need for more power and speed usually out weighs my need for caution ;)

Well - my Audi dealership INSTALLED my boost cooling system. In fact, they installed most of my mods, including the tunes etc. When I had the car in for a TSB they flashed it back to stock prior to plugging it in (without me asking them to do so) to avoid TD1 then flashed it back to stage 2.
So basically it comes down to the dealership and how tune friendly they are. Many of the SA's at mine have heavily modded cars of their own and "get it". Obviously my dealership also has a vested interest in taking as good care of me as possible because I've brought quite a bit of revenue to them through aftermarket services - but I am also open to the idea that if one of my mods does in fact cause an issue I am not expecting Audi to pay for that.

But again, it comes down to the old quote of being prepared to "Pay to Play"

Had my 25k service done today and all went good. I got pretty lucky cause they changed my SA to someone that's super cool with mods. I guess my dealership is more awesome than I thought.

I told him I was tuned but flashed to stock before coming in and he complemented me on the way my car looks. What I don't know is if a TD1 was put in my car, they don't know until later when it shows in the system. Fingers crossed but whatever, sounds like they will work with me if I need any warranty work done. Boom
