Some History:
I bought this car bone stock in 2005 with 113K on the ODO. Shortly after the purchase, I installed Koni coilovers and the APR Stage III kit, and it’s been a work in progress ever since. In July ’12 at ~186K, I sourced a low-mileage (20K) ATW longblock and replaced the original engine; I also switched out the original tranny for a unit with ~100K on it. The chassis now has 245K on it, with ~80K on the engine.
In October 2014, I was in an accident which punched a hole through my condenser, radiator, core support & jacked the hood all up. There wasn’t any structural damage, but those parts were enough to total out the car; I bought it back from my insurance company and put it back together with new (condenser, radiator & headlights) & used (core support & hood) parts. There is zero indication that the car was ever in an accident, but it does now wear a reconstructed title.
It needs a couple things mechanically that I know of. The coolant flange on the back of the head is leaking and it loses about ½ quart of coolant every couple of weeks. The cam tensioner gasket also needs to be replaced. It also burns a little oil after sitting overnight and I’m not entirely sure of the cause; I haven’t seen any indication of oil in the combustion chamber, so I’m leaning towards the turbo being the culprit. It still makes good boost, but probably something to keep an eye on. The airbag light comes on when cold, then starts flickering and finally goes away once the car's warmed up.
The body is in very good shape for a 16 year old car that’s lived in the city its entire life; it has a few blemishes that it has picked up in various parking lots over the years, but the panels are all straight and there’s not a spot of rust anywhere. The interior is also in very good shape, though the left-side driver’s bolster has worn through the leather in a small spot. Overall though, I'd say this is an above-average example of what I still consider to be the best looking series of A4 to come out of Ingolstadt. I think my asking price is fair, all things considered. I know better than to ever expect to get out what went into a build, but at the same time, I know it would easily cost three times my asking to put this car together.
I am very rarely on the forums, so the best way to get at me with any questions, offers, etc is [email protected]
