What happens if you don't trim the bump stop? My knowledge on the mechanicals of suspensions and bumpstops are pretty bad. Sorry.

You might run into the bump stop sooner than necessary if it's not trimmed. Since our springs are a higher rate than stock, bottoming out is not an issue, but they are designed for the shorter bump stops that are used on the Sport Package front shocks.

Since you have the Sport Package, your bump stops do not need to be trimmed at all. Only the Base A4 & Allroad have slightly taller factory bump stops. Hope that helps!

Looks good. The Allroad especially cries out for a drop.

He he I got it. And mine is the stock non-sport suspension. So I guess I'll have to trim it.

These springs look fantastic on the Allroad and will definitely be going on my mod list. Perfect amount of low for me.

I suppose instead of trimming the stock bump stops one could always order new OEM Sport Package Bump Stops to ise instead. Just in case one needed to go back to stock one day.

We need to dig up a part number somewhere first. Dealership should be able to order from there. If we catch them on a good day the Parts Department might even help find the part number for us.

It is a powerful resource but caveat emptor. The real ETKA is available only to authorized folks, including independent techs who pay for it. There are free sites that do offer parts data, typically sourced from legit users, but they are not always up to date and may have inaccuracies. Always gut check with someone who has access prior to committing funds.

Discovered that upon further review. Login creds were a no go. But yes, I've had some successes with looking up part numbers through some sites I've navigated to. Sometimes all it takes to find some is by googling part numbers in general.

Anyway, the springs look great and will be looking to place an order for sure.

So it looks like both the sport and non-sport version of the sedan have the same bump stops?

I'd also check the part #s for the sport pkg dampers vs the non sport dampers. If the part #s match then all is good. If not by installing shorter bump stops you may be exceeding the range of travel of the non sport dampers when you install lowering springs. Didn't see any one mention this so just thought i'd throw it out there. Food for thought.

True but 034 mentions trimming the bump stops by 10mm for the springs. If you look at the above numbers they seem to add up to about 10mm difference. So should be ok? I need to do some more cross referencing of part numbers and the like still but I hear what you're saying.

Thank you for the orders and interest!

Just to clarify, there are a myriad of different part numbers (14 of them from what I can tell) for the front shocks based on build dates and option packages. The Base A4s and Allroads we have seen here have come with 81mm front bump stops, and the Sport Package A4s (including ours) have had 72mm ones. We recommend trimming the front bump stops 10mm on the Base A4 and Allroad.

I didn't get this. Is that good or bad or doesn't matter? I'm guessing it's bad. But how will it affect my car on the road? Sorry but I'm a big noob.

So leave the rear ones as it is and only trim the front ones? I'm asking cuz in the bump stop thread, Emmanuelle says it's ideal to trim off 1.2" from the rear as well. And their front bump stops are like 1.039" shorter than the ones stock on the standard A4. Their standard A4 has been lowered by about 1.6" whereas the 034 will be 2.0" lower than stock. Basically, my issue is that post install of the lowering springs, my car shouldn't bottom out or feel like it is hitting the bump stop or anything.

Sucks when you don't know much about suspensions

Yes, we only recommend trimming the front bump stops. Our recommendations are based on our spring rates and ride height, which differ from other manufacturers. Hope that helps!

The springs really made a huge difference. I actually hated the vague floaty-ish handling of the OEM set-up. The springs along with the 255/40 19 Michelin tires have transformed the car from awful to awesome handling wise. The APR tune has made the car wicked too.
