Faulty reverse parking sensors - HELP!!

Looking for some help please from you helpful and knowledgeable people. My reversing parking sensors are playing up on my S4. When I engage reverse, they either stay on constantly or don't come on at all. When they are on constantly, it is one continuous beep. Any ideas of what the problem could be? Will a fault code be picked up with a software scan?

Any help, advice and comments would be much appreciated.

mine on my Allroad are horrid, nothing behind me at all and they go off like a banshee, yet my car is behind me and doesn't go off at all...
