Clutch Pedal Would Not Return at Worst Time

So of course when a challenger and c5 corvette pulled up trying to race each other next to me, I wanted to join the fun. I turned traction off and revved to launch control. The light turned green and we all took off (I pulled the hardest. Probably made me the hardest too ;-) ) I then shifted to 2nd and mashed the throttle again but when I thought it was time to shift to 3rd, I realized something wasn't right. I shifted to third and realized the clutch pedal wasn't coming out all the way (80% in still) and even though the car was moving fast, it wasn't coming down from high revs at all. Very scary realization and smelt like burnt clutch the rest of the way home.

Does anyone know what this could be caused by? Stage 2 Unitronic since 10k miles, now have 43k on stock clutch still. Car is a 6 mt too.

I had this problem with my last clutch. Ended up being an issue with the pressure plate. It's probably time for a new clutch unfortunately.

A good test is to see if it has a problem returning during normal driving. Mine only had the issue over 5500rpm.

I will try that tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a one time issue but I'm sure tonight did a number on it too =(

Launching with stage 2 on a stock clutch does not end pretty. Clutch plate warms up immediately after the hard launch it will slip through gears there after. The pedal will do all sorts or weird things when the clutch isn't hooking properly. Definitely time for an upgrade.
