    Hi all,
I have a B7 A4 with 83k miles on it. My thermostat is stuck open so it's throwing cooling performance codes on me. Anywhore, I'm going to be replacing my TB, water pump, and thermostat all at the same time. I'm doing all the wrenching myself and I was wondering if there were any mods that would be easy to throw on while my bumper was dropped. Thanks for your replies, I really appreciate it.

Haha same brother. My thermostat is also stuck open.

Anyways a JHM front mount intercooler real easy to put on when you have the bumper off. They are quality. If you haven't got a never revision diverter valve I would also recommend that. If you are looking to get the RS style grille that would also be a good time to swap it or fab it up.
Any questions you can PM me.

If you want to do anything with your headlights or fog lights, clear corner mod, swap bulbs etc. do it with the bumper off.

While this might be considered borderline cheap($150-$300), you'll have access to all of the intercooler hoses with the bumper off. If any of your existing hoses are soft and spongy, it might be a prime opportunity for a silicone hose upgrade. (FYI, only 3 of the 4 hoses can be accessed with the bumper on.)

Hell man, if you want me to be completely honest here, delete those stupid headlight washers......those are the worst. Have problems all the time with those things.

Thanks guys. I think I may end up going TB, WP, thermostat, snub mount, and DV. My bumper is S-line so I'm deciding whether or not to do the RS style grill. I know it'll look nice, but I kinda want to replace my whole bumper, but that means bumper+paint so I may hold off on that for now. I'm debating the inter cooler as well. Hmm decisions, decisions.

Hey all, thanks again for the replies. I've been searching the last couple of days for good diverter valves, and I've narrowed it down to the revision d Audi replacement, GFB's DV+, and a forge 008. Do any of you guys have any advice which one is best? The rev D is the cheapest, but the dv+ and 008 are not THAT much more expensive, about 100 dollars. I'm willing to pay the price difference if either of the two perform wildly better.

I'm going to be dropping my bumper to do my timing belt, water pump & thermostat. So it won't be that big of a deal if the dv requires it.

There's definitely a trick to it, however 3+ hours is excessive.

+1 It took me about 30 minutes total, (did an oil change while the panel was off). It is very easy if you have the right tool, the extended length H6 socket made it a breeze. I got my set off eBay. While this seller is out of stock, a quick search should find more.

I guess I'm an idiot then. Ive only done like four or five of these (some on different cars) and 10 mins is funny. 35 mins? sure.

But seriously, the first trout I almost caught would have been like 17 inches if it had landed it. I swear... it was huge.

That aint yours you lying bastard!

and yes, "35 mins" kind of makes sense. But usually, 35 mins in hindsight is more like 45-1hr.

Like I said, I've only done quite a few of these. And like i said (again), I must be an idiot

I may have over exaggerated but it was well over an hour. I have big hands and I could not for the life of me squeeze all the way up there with ease. Also the braided line that sits in front of it kept cutting me up since some of the braids were damaged. Now that I know how to pull off the front clip, I'd rather just do it that way. I can pull the front clip off in 15 minutes.

When I had my bumper off last summer I wrapped my chrome on my grill with carbon fiber wrap, removed my plate and put a euro plate on (painted it black to make it a little more subtle), Joey modded my headlights, and did daytime LEDs. I think it made the car look way better. I wanted an RS4 grill bad but couldn't stomach the price. I also wanted to do the clear corner mod but didn't want to pay $50 for $2 worth of clear plastic. Here are pics...

Idk I'm with you on it though, I spent like 2.5 hours doing it when I had to. And I got small hands lol. I also had to take out 15 different tools to do it lol, that thing is a bitch. Would it take me 30 minutes now? Maybe. I doubt it though haha

Oil changes take me like 1.5 hours though so maybe I'm just meticulous

Holy bananas an hour and a half for an oil change?!?!?, I mean I even understand an hour for the DV just cause of the braided line, but 1.5 hours for an oil change is insane.

    Spare tire delete
