Houston/South Texas Track Meet

Lonestar Motorsports Park (Hennessey's track) on i10 is hosting an event March 11. Here is the info:

"Saturday, March 11, 2017 11:00 am - 10:00 pm
Lonestar Motorsports Park
- Gates open at 11:00am
- Spectators $20, kids 12 and under free CASH ONLY
- Racers $40 for tech card for test n tune good for roll and drag racing
- Classes cost an additional $60. More details about classes coming soon.
- Trophies - we have the most badass trophies and you will want to win one!
- All cars, bikes, race cars welcome to come and race. However, this is primarily a late model street race event.
- Track will be PREPPED and we run 1/4 mile!

DRIVERS MEETING for ROLL RACERS 12:00 NOON
-12:30pm Track goes hot for roll racing
-1:00pm class eliminations for ROLL classes
-3:30pm concludes roll racing
Roll classes:
- RWD
- FWD
- AWD

DRIVERS MEETING for DRAG RACERS 3:00PM
- Testing 3:30pm-10:00pm (or when eliminations are finished)
- Street Racer Class cruise 4:30pm
-Eliminations start at 5:30pm for all classes"



Anyone interested? Looks like a total of $100 to run ($40 for tech card and $60 for class). Would be nice to get a solid Audi crew out there!

Do you have your car now? How do you like it? It would be interesting to see what you can get out of it stock.

My concern about this track event is that it probably will attract a large crowd. I think it's billed as the "Street Racing Nationals" and I saw that people are planning to come from out of state. As for roll racing, though I could probably do OK in that, I would definitely try to skip it and hope I don't have to tolerate waiting through any of that.

I went out to this track a few weeks ago for a test and tune on a Saturday. I set a new personal best and had a really great time because the crowd was so light. You could pull right up and be racing in a minute, yet there were a number of 11 and 10 second cars out there to play with (no trucks!). That was the magic recipe for me, and I'm worried that won't be the case with this event.

That sounds like a fun trip. Let's not get it twisted where 12.2-12.4 and sub 4 seconds 0-60 is not impressive. Explore it and enjoy it. Someone's always faster.

LMP does not open consistently on the weekends, but they've had at least one test and tune day each month over the last few months. Right now it looks like all they have on the calendar after this is a May event. But I'll bet they will open at least once in April for a TNT, and maybe another time in March as well. We would just have to wait and see, or go to this. Spectating this would not be so bad; I'm just doubting how much participation we will be allowed. I love the idea of a meet up so I'm not trying to shoot this down. I have a friend who is an APR dealer (stage 2 S6) and I would try to get him to go to this as well.

I like running during the day when the temps are reasonable because you get a better track temp (better traction) than at night.

Oh I know the stock figures are impressive, but I've had a taste of a tuned 4.0 and it's sweet!

I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if they give up any info. I'll report back

I'd be up for a "normal" Saturday trip out there if you guys get something organized. I haven't done anything with my car in terms of mods just yet but I'd enjoy it nonetheless.

And looks like you have an RS7...you don't need mods to put up impressive numbers!

Just called Hennessey. They said more than likely there will be another test n tune Saturday sometime later in March or in April. Usually post on their calendar 2-3 weeks in advance. Can keep checking back for when that pops up and plan from there.

Haha, when I say not quick enough I'm talking about a real drag race event with people coming in from out of state with 800+hp monsters. Nah I very much doubt I could compete with those. Test and tune is more my level plus I have never even been to a drag strip before.

Typically they put you in classes with cars that have similar power figures.

I haven't been to a 1/4 track since Baytown in 2007 Going to be a blast!
