    Cheers

Remove the rubber on the top brace, the struts have it all built in. You may have figured that out already though.

What made you go with these over the KW V3, Bilstein PSS9, or even the B14?

    price primarily
customisability, obviously there is some work to be done, but you can order with swift springs at different spring rates
each part is replaceable fairly easily
    plus it has the adjustability

to be fair they are maybe not as "easy" to install at least for the fronts with the removal of the oem bushing thing. but outside of that, there is no real difference to the rest of the aftermarket coilovers. rears were straight forward. Interestingly the springs were shorter than the KW HAS springs I had on. which made install super easy although the rubber bushing provided by BC was much thicker, so I might have to install that if it sits too low. I also kept the KW HAS adjustment perch for the rears. It's such a pain in the butt to adjust the rear ride height, but the KW HAS has this hex bit hole that with an extension you can use to ratchet it up and down instead of having to lower the whole subframe that the others. So would recommend getting that! I know the bilsteins don't have that nifty feature.

I didn't go the bilsteins because I had them on my B7 S4 before and found that the front bounced quite a bit when set to soft.

Also got a great deal from 65vetteC6! :)

Good to know - curious to hear your impressions of how they perform. I was just curious as I was recently shopping for coilovers and ended up getting the KW V3.

Over on the NSX forums, the BC Racing coilovers have received some very solid reviews. Many guys liken them to a cheaper and slightly lesser alternative to the KW V3s which are the gold standard for the NSX. I'm running KW V3s on my NSX and I love them.

However, given that my RS4 is higher mileage and a DD, I don't want to spend $2k+ on a set of coilovers so the BC Racing setup has me interested. The problem is that there are zero reviews for the S4/RS4 applications so I'm also curious to hear your impressions.

That I do with Swift Spring as well, custom valved to my specifications at 14k Front, 22k rear springs. The ride is a bit harsh for NY but that was to be expected with the track spring rate I ordered. I also ran BCs on my B7 S4 and they never let me down. Cheers Matt on your new set up.

    As requested. :)

I just have the standard 12k front/rear springs from BC. Figured I would give them a go before investing in the stiffer swift springs that Mr NYC has. :)

BC Racing coil over install help

So now I have to get this bushing thing off the thingamebob any thoughts short of blunt force? The metal inner bit spins easily enough but a quick pry with a flathead did not do anything.

Yay! so some progress made today. Got the oem bushing out of the hat thingy!

Got the rears done in entirety!

Now just waiting for the 034 strut mounts to arrive before putting the fronts back together.

By the way, can anyone tell me the torque and yield specs for the rear subframe bolts. I can't find it anywhere.

    Cheers,
    Matt

Matt, do you need to re-insert the metal piece with the new strut-tower bushings you got from 034?

Bentley calls for 110 Nm + 90° (for all 4 bolts) , same as front subframe.

you mean the metal thingamebob that attaches the rubber spring bushing to the top hat thingame? No, once out, it's out. plus it curves out far enough that the coilovers don't actually clear it, so the coilovers would be balanced on this non-structural piece of metal.

If Im not mistaken I think he is talking about the strut mounts from 034 that comes as two piece shells. You have to remove the circular plastic with metal washer to install the 034 mount for the strut tower.

ahhh that, yes, two screwdrivers seemed to get the two circular plastic pieces that hold all the parts together to come apart. They sort of slot together, pry back a bit of the rubber from the mounts and you can see how they are holding together. :)

Anyone got any guidance on best way to remove the DSC and lines from the car? I thought I saw a post ages ago that it was easier to just cut the pipes instead of trying to unthread it all? If so what to use for cutting the pipes? hacksaw? tips?

want the flexibility to adjust the damping. fast transitions in cornering tend to upset the car, the weight transfer from one side to the other is not handled well. So looking to tie that down some more. Otherwise the HAS kit/DRC was perfect for daily driving. really soft enough to cope with normal roads and the ability to lower it for looks is also nice. Just looking to take the next (small) step in handling improvement for the track. This car for me is a garage/track car. Not a daily anymore like it was when I had the HAS kit installed.

What I do when I'm adjusting ride height in the rear, is use the old bolts for the multiple iterations of dropping and tightening the subframe. Once I finally get the ride height set and I'm happy, then I replace the bolts one at a time with new ones and torque to spec.

great tip. the KW HAS height adjuster allows an allen key on a long extension to be passed through from the bottom control arm up the center of the spring and holds the base in place so you can turn the adjuster. no need to lower the subframe to adjust it anymore! :) yay!

Same is with the rear-base on the KW Clubsport. Allen-key to hold it in place.
(yes finally got the Clubsport!! )

Best laid plans right... So the KW adjusters for the rear are not long enough. The rear is too low. :( so everything comes apart and modifying the rubber bushing to sit between car and kW adjuster. Lol

Modifying the rubber bushing to accept the KW adjusters was too much of a ball ache. So in went the bc racing adjusters. If I update the stock bc racing springs I'll order them an inch longer and put the kW height adjusters back in.

Nevertheless all is back together and first drives are positive. All the way soft is firm but not ridiculous. Where the drc would sometimes bounce the compression and rebound only happens once. So far so good. Just got to finalise heights front and rear! Yay!

totally. In soft they are a bit stiffer than KW HAS springs, but not crazy stiff. In hard, they are fantastic. The tenability for the track is so much more helpful. So much easier to dial out understeer. My most recent event at buttonwillow saw no understeer at 10/15 f/r. Love them. I don't see the need to switch to swift springs at the moment. They came with the stock 12k springs front/rear. There is enough variability in the damping to account for anyone unless you are doing serious track stuff.

I just ordered a set of the BC coilovers with digressive valving (DS series) and 12kg/14kg Swift springs, so will have another data point for you in a few weeks. I won't have a point of reference for comparison though as my RS4 came with Stasis Motorsports which needed to be serviced (and the parts delay there is what prompted me to pick up another set) so the ride was pretty much garbage (significantly poorer than my B6 A4 with Eibach pro-street-S coilovers)

[QUOTE=MattboyR32;12234175]Installing the bc racing cool overs. Do I need to take this rubber and metal thing off the top of the suspension (the thing that the control arms are bolted to)

    Cheers

Is it the dampering setting screw on the top of the spring, in the U gap ?
