I'll help you out. The wheels are 16" and the tires are 215/70/16. He had to 402 it up a ways and he can't use level 1.

I just bought a 2003 Burgundy Red Pearl Allroad but in 2.7T configuration and not 4.2. Instantly, I told myself that in order for the car to not look like it was driven by a 70 year old it needed to be blacked out and tinted. Decided to go for a "sinister" look with everything blacked out and yellow fogs etc. Turns out your car was the first thing I saw for inspiration. I plan on having 3 modes; nice and low for summer, medium height for winter, and now camping mode with those big ass tires like you have.

Do you rock that look all year, bro?

Im debating going all out with my allroad. I could leave it alone and get a few more years out of it, or I could have a rebuilt trans ready to go and start saving for a stage 3 build, along with a winter setup like this one, and a summer setup with some Miro 111. And have a fully capable daily that should last me as long as I want to drive it...

Yup. It's an all year deal. It helps to have 2. I only had my black allroad before. When my father passed I inherited his allroad and started the offroad build as a tribute to him. It's definitely the winter beater and offroader. The black allroad is still my highway cruiser/street machine

And yes I tried swapping the wheels, too

Damn...seeing these makes me want to do 1 of 2 things....sell my stg 1 sedan and get an allroad...or just jack the sedan up and go camp mode with it.. has anyone seen I believe it was an allroad with a ram bar on the front...it could've been a sedan with it but I love how it looks with the ram bar on front...if I could find a way to get one onto my sedan I would do it in a heartbeat

Horrible. 12 - 15 mpg average since the conversion. The basket and extra wheel and tire on the roof doesn't help with aerodynamics. I also have the APR 4.2 tune, unlocking the extra HP and TQ that Audi de-tuned from the engine.

I want to go with a taller, slightly aggressive tire. You say that with 215/70r17 and ipp arms you had rubbing on the highway? Is that on the fender lip or where? Are your wheels spaced out?

I like a 225/60r18, but I think that’s dreaming as it’s 28.5” or so. It seems if I go thin enough, with no additional offset, I can max out diameter, which is the goal: largest rolling diameter, keep ipp arms, keep level 1 for interstate

Also thinking of an improved bump stop to hold the car up in the event of a bag failure

Can you shed light on any of these areas?

With the IPP arms, I was rubbing at level 1 on bumps due to being so low. I was and am still using 15mm spacers to push the wheels out. This is on 215-70-16 Tires. I did not want to go larger diameter wheels than 16, because I wanted more sidewall. And I still get rubbing at level at full lock turns on the fender liner even now. So you really cannot go that much bigger tire without having to do body modifications.

I think the IPP arms are useless for when you have a vehicle on the off roading tires. Get rid of them. I say this from experience. You want to 402 mod your vehicle up! IPPS arms are good, but only if you are running the air suspension and street wheels and tires.

As for adding a bump stop, unless you come up with kind of solution others haven't thought of on the OEM/Arnott air suspension, you aren't going to be able to add a bumpstop to prevent slamming. I looked into it, but you cannot add one internally and work well. The OEM/Arnotts have the bump stops built into the housings. Silva, who developed the IPP arms did come up with a solution that didn't involve the bump stops. It involves adding delrin spacers between the body and the suspension top hat in the front. I have the pieces for this setup but saw that it really will throw the front end geometry out of whack, so I passed on installing.

    Thanks for the feedback

I thought I’d want more sidewall too, but am impressed with the smoothness. I will take the heavier 18” wheel instead of the expense of additional 16s

I’m wondering if I can stay off the fender lip (tucked safely on full bump) with the factory offset and skinny tires. 27.25” or so may be the limit for OD. Looks like room most everywhere inside for another inch of tire if you don’t turn too sharply, which is ok for high speed.

I may try a bump stop above the UCAs for damage control on suspension failure if I end up with a large tire. Maybe that could work

I’m not really wanting off-road capability, just a bit more adverse conditions traction and ground clearance. I have a proper 4x4 if needed

The arms surely limit suspension travel on 1 and 4, and make for a shitty ride, but I find it quite acceptable at level 1 on the interstate as is. I imagine the taller sidewalls will only be better, provided I can avoid rubbing tire to the tops of the inner fender on bumps. I’ll push it a little and see

I don’t like the delrin spacer kit pushing the arms down, effectively, either. It works, but I like to be in the sweet spot of the geometry. That being said, level 1 IS kind of out of the sweet spot. Level 4 is too, but that’s just for extremes

Holy shit. That’s only half inch bigger than the 225/60r18 I want to try. Never mind! I better try 225/55r18

That’s crazy big. Looks a bit off for my taste, but I love the clearance

Yeah how is the rubbing? Is that level 3?

It rubs. I haven’t done any work to address that yet, it’s a new setup for me. I drive it a couple times a week for the last two months and it’s not awful. I don’t use level 1 and swing wide (: I plan on lifting her and addressing some suspension issues this fall. I think it’ll be doable. That was level 4.
