{SOLVED=ICM} Misfire: No spark from coil to plug cylinder 1. P0300. Why?

    Good Morning Everyone.

    My 2001 Audi b5 s4 is misfiring.
    Code reads only p0300.
All coils fire except cylinder 1.
    I do not know why.

    Here's what's been done:
-swapped working coil packs around to cylinder 1 and they stop working.
-unbolted & pulled coil packs up a few inches, separating from plugs, to hear the spark firing from coil pack to plug.
-The above happens on all except Cylinder #1.
-Pulled spark plug form Cylinder #1, and it looks fine. ~15,000 miles old.
-There is no water in ECU.
-The plug from wiring harness to coil pack on Cylinder #1 looks fine.
-Just started doing it in the middle of my drive last week, then stopped, than started again the next day.

    My Questions:
    1) Would a clogged injector be known by the ECU, and thus stopping any signal to fire coil pack on cylinder #1?
    2) Even if Cylinder #1 had a bad plug, a known good coil pack should fire (just like my experiment above) when pulling the coil pack off the plud for a few inches while car is running.
    3) Any other suggestions?

    Thank you all.
    Cheers.

You need to check the wiring before you rule out the ECM. You swapped coil and you get 0 spark so that tells you the engine is good. That your problem is with the wiring or ecm. You need 3 things to get spark to happen. You need power ground and a signal wire. you need to see if you have good power and if you have both of those you need to check the signal wire to make sure its good from the ecm to the coil connector.

Does anyone know how to test pin out of # 1 via voltage meter?
    Thank you all so far

    I fixed the issue.
It was an Ignition Control Module that is bad.
I didn't have to test voltage on any pins because I read the electroc pulse would be to quick to register on a voltmeter.
Per this post ( http://www.audiworld.com/forums/s4-r.../#post14600591 ), I swapped the 4-plugs (2 BLACK AND TWO BROWN) that go to the 2 ICMs to see if the misfire would move to the other bank of cylinders, and it did. The ICM's are the same that are on top of the airbox.
See before and after photos of how the harness was swapped.
I went to Amazon and found some cheap knock off ICM's for $29 with good reviews here:

    I love my s4 avant 2001.
