    HID fog light help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I just got my Xentec eBay 3000k HID's in the mail that I planned on putting in the fog light location, but I'm really struggling trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I've googled it and found one result but the writer of the article hardly even described how he did it. I'm sure there's plenty of people on here who have done it, so I'd appreciate a little more detail. Thanks

Because of the way the fog light is designed, you can't simply toss in an hid bulb, hook up a Ballast and call it a day. Without hacking the housing all to hell, it's not going to happen.

Yeah I obviously know that, or I wouldn't be asking lol. My last b5 a4 had the hid's set up in the fog lights, but I can't remember how it was done since I bought it that way

All I'm asking is if anyone on here has done it, and if so, how did they go about it. I don't mind doing some wire splicing and what not, the fog lights aren't as important to me

That's the problem, it's not about wiring, it's the back half of the fog light is designed so the connection makes a 90degree bend. Without drilling it out and figuring out some way to seal it up as well as devise a bulb holder, it's not happening.

Same goes for using the fogs off of the gti. They don't seal up to the front half of our fog housing. So you still need to find a way to seal it up.

all i did was drill 4 holes in the fog housing and use so thin metal rod i had laying around. stuck the bulb in, slid the rod into the holes and its held my bulbs in place for well over 7 years...it can be done and you don't need to ruin your housings in order to do it, i can go back to reg. bulbs in 15 seconds.

Great, thank you. I was hoping someone would be able to put me in the right direction.
