Question for those that started with Chipworks and are now flashed...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just wondering if you could do it all over again, was it worth going with a full reflash vs. Chipworks?

Would you have just waited a bit longer and simply reflashed? Or simply not reflashed and kept the box?

Surely this has been covered before but these threads generally get muddy and long.

I started off with chipwerk s module and had it for about a year , i recently reflashed the car with epl stage 2 and also did the transmission tune also and i could say the full tune is a lot better especially in a dsg car. The drivability is a lot smoother and the power increase is more noticeable .
    13' s4 ,ibis white ,b&O, sport diff , dsg , full nappa

    Epl stg2/dsg flash . Cts pulley . Ecs Kohlefaser Luft-Technik . Rotiform spf 19x10 all around . Enlaes decklid . Rs4 grill . Deval diffuser . Ecs diff mounts . H&R OE springs . Awe Touring .....

The don't regret chipwerke at all, it was nice to start there when my car was brand new. I did the stage 2 also and was a really nice power bump from stage 1. Now I have EPL stage 2 and it's much smoother and the throttle response is better. Have a 7200 shift now instead of 6500 too!

Ok. Thank you for the feedback on that. Sounds like skipping is the way to go from your concensus

Not necessarily.. Since I am still under warranty I chose the chipwerke PRO over a flash for obvious reasons.. and according to bhvdr he had better numbers with chipwerke than with APR stage 1. Also being able to remove the chip at a moments notice is very useful.

You should start out with the CW. It will keep your warranty in tact for the time being until you decide on what Stage 1 flash to go with. Keep in mind that you will have absolutely no problem selling a used CW on here whenever you decide to get an actual tune. There is always someone looking for one it seems.

I would just go straight to a stage 1 tune if I had to do it all over again. The chipwerke boxes give you a pretty good taste of what you can expect out of a stage 1 tune. An actual tune from GIAC, 034, EPL etc etc will be much more refined and will also extract a bit more power safely

Or get a real tune and TCU for a little more money and be able to sell the tune when you are done.

U could give Chipwerke a try...if u decide u don't like it you can send it back. I did that and had no issues returning it...their customer service was great. I ultimately ended up with Unitronic 1+ and the flash at home was awesome. Unitronic customer service and Modded euros were great to deal with.

93 in Cali? I wish lol. How do you plan on running 93 octane? Are you mixing with E85 or 101 octane to get that? It kills me that CA only has 91.

I am about to tune so I have to decide if I want to go with a lame 91 file... or say f*ck it and get a 93 file and therefore be forced to properly mix 91 and 101 from a race gas pump near me each time I fill up. It's too bad that "because race car" and "practicality" are inversely related.

    Yah 91 with 3 gallons of E85

I run a 93 octane file with an e85 blend. Been working out great.

Hands down a flash is better. I had the chipwerke pro and went to epl. It's a huge improvement in power delivery and driveability

The flash is better but honestly when I went from Chipwerke to stage 2 I was underwhelmed. Sure the car is quick but I was not blown away for the $2000+.
