    SRM Issues

I bought SRM's 85mm Intake/MAF 2 weeks ago and have yet to receive notice of shipment, much less any movement on my order. I've contacted Sean at SRM a total of 6 times and he has yet to return any of my messages. Has anyone else dealt with this? Likely going to dispute the payment tomorrow (paid via PayPal) if I don't hear before then, but wanted to gauge other's experiences with SRM and whether this is an outlying occurrence or more of a routine issue of theirs. Really disappointed as their intercoolers are very well documented to be awesome but I won't likely spend any more money there if this is how orders are handled.

I bought intercoolers back in November of 2016. I received those intercoolers about three days ago.

Second occurrence is still unresolved. I bought k24s through Solomotorsports in December. The turbos shipped in about a week, oil lines and Inlets I still have not received. Sean has been really difficult to reach, and on the off chance that I do get a return email or phone call, he says he's been busy and will ship the Inlets and oil lines the next day. That's been going on for about the last four weeks.

He means normal in the context of SRM. Sean is notoriously slow and not so great service once you pay him.
I love my K24's and IC's from them, but I don't know if i have the patience to deal with that again. Should I need turbos again in the future, I don't think i'd go back to SRM.

Exactly... and people wait months and consider it "normal"? Perhaps I am naive and have a short patience limit, but it certainly doesn't seem normal to pay good money for parts and never see them for months on end. This doesn't leave me with much confidence of getting a response by tomorrow, but thats OK as Im perfectly contempt with filing a dispute.

If you didn't know about the lead times going into this, I'm sorry. but this has been the case for most people.

If you're looking for amazon prime turnaround, SRM isn't the place to go. But if you're looking for quality parts and can afford the wait, its worth it.

Totally agree. And, the wait alone is bad enough.

There being zero communication from SRM makes it infinitely worse.

Seems to be the common feedback I've seen online too.

The thing is, why not list that on the site? Why not communicate after the customer pays?

Seems shady to allow people to place orders and never give any indication of lead time.

I feel like if any of these companies just paid a girl minimum wage to communicate with customers they would own the segment.

SRM has by far the worst customer service of any company ive delt with. Get used to it and dont buy from them again.

How should anyone know? Theres no indication of any wait time for their products outside of the intercoolers. Besides... all we're talking about here is a bent pipe, a machined block welded to said pipe, a silicone coupler, and an air filter. If it takes longer than an hour to manufacture than he's really messing up and has no excuse.

I can guarantee they take longer than an hour to manufacture, after machining the maf housing, welding and powder coating, more like at least a day for one person.

However, that's still not an excuse to take weeks or months, especially if they have any on hand.

If your trying to get a hold of him you won't get a response until after about 7pm Pacific Time Zone. I believe its just a side business and he makes most parts to order, which would lead me to believe stock is ordered on demand, not great for a timely order but when I was able to get him on the phone(took me a week being in different time zones) he wasn't a bad guy to talk too, though never responded to any messages I left which was a bit disappointing. Would I buy from him again, most likely but not if I needed something in a timely manner.

Appreciate all the feedback... Do I feel better about this? No, but its at least good to know I am not the only one...

The Intake and Intercoolers are the only 2 things I want of theirs... everything else can be sourced from more reliable/reputable sources that I am happy to do business with, even if it costs a bit more. We'll see if I still want to go with SRM after learning of all this...

Keep in mind the b5 market does not bring nearly as much $$ as the 996 / porsche guys do.

I wouldn't be surprised if he stopped supporting this platform completely.

AFAIK SRM is one of the last vendors that actually do any real R&D / machine work. Everyone else just drop ships from china.

Even if they are... still not an excuse in my eyes. Its incredible how long others are willing to wait for these parts. Seems like a LOT of hassle for little gain.

I bought a pair of K24/RS6 BB turbos from him on December 1st and I'm still waiting on the shipment of those after dozens of communications with him. Sean called me to update the status of my turbos a week before Christmas and created a shipping label on the 23rd. He even provided me a pic of the turbos 3 weeks later. They didn't ship yet because the wrong coolant lines were sent to him and didn't fit right. This was the case until about last week I asked him again and he said they came in and he would assemble the kit that day (Feb 14) but I'm still waiting for them to ship.

So in my experience I've had good communication with Sean but it just takes time...

I bought my intercoolers from Sean and he was easy to communicate with, not that I tried many times. I'm pretty patient but eventually I ended up shooting him an email and he called me literally like five minutes later and told me what was going on. It turned out the ICs were ready to go but he was waiting on the shrouds and offered to ship those items separate at no additional charge.

So, I was pretty pleased with everything except the wait.

I intend to purchase the SRM exhaust manifolds, fueling kit, and girdle in the near future but I'm a little hesitant. I really don't want my project to be on hold for months because of a few parts

Same for me, had no problems communicating with Sean by email back and forth. And the shipping was on time.

Email doesn't do anything for you (as you have noticed), phone doesn't do anything for you either except excuses etc. Claim and dispute is you best and ONLY friends if you want the goods sooner.
Like others have mentioned communication stop immediately when money changes owner so you need to start the process to reverse that.

My intercooler purchase was probably like two years ago so things may have changed, he may be much more busy, etc. Not that being too busy is any sort of excuse, especially after months and months.

I waited a month or two for my ICs but I knew they would be made to order, so I expected as much. At that time there was actually an option to pay extra to jump the line and get your order made a priority.

    Not in my experience.

Contacted him quite a few times for months before purchase. Asked him what kind of time I'd be looking at to receive product and got a response.

I've touched base with him a few times since placing my order and always get a response.

A little patience goes a long way.

What is "a little" in terms of time?

He responded to my first message sent to ask about my order, but all he said was "I'll check for you". No further messages have been received from him and I've sent 4 emails since over the last week. This is a lot of hassle for such a simple order... that's what gets me. I'm not asking for much...

Has anyone here tried Project B5 as an alternative?...they supply similar quality parts...I'm nearing the end of my build and was planning on buying the same 1 piece intake from SRM. After reading this post I'm glad I haven't done so yet, apparently I'd be waiting and Furious at getting no response...so now I'm considering Project B5. But haven't heard anything positive or negative regarding shipping & customer service from them.

The quality and value are worth the wait, the demand is high and a bit of a niche market. By making them to order he is likely decreasing the overhead and in turn keeping the price down.

That sounds good and all but doesn't explain no response...not even an Automated email response...that takes second to setup & keep customers from thinking they just got robbed & pruning disputes with PayPal

But haven't heard anything positive or negative regarding shipping & customer service from them.
If you're taking about the intake manifold project b5's manifold outflows SRM's I believe...

Is there a page for SRM? Couldn't find one. Also have no idea what his full name is.

ProjectB5 has a 101mm one-piece intake. The only 85MM option they have is just the MAF housing.

**correction: ProjectB5 has a 90mm OD (presumably 85mm ID) one-piece intake kit, but it requires the use of the HPX sensor

His full name is Sean west. You should be able to get him to respond on Facebook.

If I have a long term project going on then I wouldn't care that much about the wait and maybe deal with it. If it is an item I want or need right away I would rather pay more and get something then to deal with the wait. I'm impatient so I want stuff I pay for fairly quick.

They do have a Hitachi MAF version

Notice Hitachi MAF Flange mentioned in description
