The car runs strong until you go wot and push the boost it starts stuttering like its misfiring and then it smells distinctly like gunpowder smoke.. But there is no engine light one and no cels.. Daily driving is completely fine otherwise

Sounds like spark is being blown out. What plugs are you running and what gap are they set too? With stock coils you want to have gap set at .023-.025 and with fsi coils you want .025-.030

Does the car burn any oil by chance? I had that same gunpowder smoke smell when my turbos were shot. Also is your car stock or tuned?

My car is doing the same thing and I got recommend to change to better plugs that are also gaped right. And if that didnt help then to check my fuel system
    Line health
    Clogged filter
    Pump flowing strong
    Injectors and rail not restricting
    And so on.

check gap, boost leaks, and make sure that you're up to temp fully, mine would do this when the thermostat was going bad, but now at 26 psi it runs strong.

a coil getting weak will also cause this, re-gapping smaller may fix it for a while. I had to swap to fsi coils to get it to be reliable.

Probably not your problem but I was having the exact same issue as you and my fuel filter was very clogged. Changed it and ran so much better.

I had same exact issue. Did the 2.0t coil converaion and all was good. You might have a weak coil/icm

Sounds like you need to update your coils to the newer 2.0t style and delete your icms, made a night and day difference on my car and completely eliminated the "random misfires" code

Tighten your gap before dropping cash on coils

Also use dielectric grease on the plug wires. This is what stopped it for me I had dark tracer lines on the porcelain where the spark was shorting out. AlphaVR is who I learned it from and seems like everytime I have this happen it's what it takes to stop it. Also NGK COPPER plugs will spark stronger and resist being blown out better than the expensive platinum plugs. You just have to change them much more often... Speaking of witch I think I'm due

Car was sitting for a while but finally getting around to the 2.0 coils and new plugs. My old plugs were gapped to .04" previous posts suggest running around .028" but reading multiple other threads posts say to run around .04"??? I have stage 2, 21psi, bkr7e, and will have the 2.0 fsi coils

From what ive seen. Run .028 for stock coils. 0.04 is if your running the conversion, stonger spark, so you can up the gap without them being blown out
