C7 s6 oem muffler swap. Anybody ?

Has anyone swapped out the oem rear mufflers?
I did the two front and mid resonator delete mods but still would like a little more rumble.
Wondering what a flow master or borla mufflers would sound like.
If anyone has any experience with this please share your outcome.

you don't need to swap them out. Go to your shop tell them to open up the muffler "boxes" and straight pipe the internals, and weld it back up. This way you can keep the valves functioning also.

I swapped out my rear mufflers for some Powerflow free flow ones. I had my shop retrofit the rear left valve onto the new left muffler. I have resonator and centre box delete also.

Below is an audio/video l took afterwards, may give you an idea of what it sounds like. Kind of difficult to capture with the road noise. Starts off with some normal driving as l leave my residential area, gets a bit more gas towards the end.

Do you get a lot of pops and bangs when you let go of the gas.
I'm pretty sure I heard some at the end of your video.
It sounds pretty civil when you drive it normal. Is that correct

Yes, it's pretty civil, until you put your foot down.

My car is the facelift S7, the prefacelift does not have all the pops and bangs as standard, so you may struggle to get it louder without putting a tune on.

There is no drone, however the changeover from 8 to 4 cylinder mode is definitely more audible than before, but only at the changeover point, otherwise it's fine.

Can't seem to find any info on your Power flow free flow mufflers.
Are the mufflers basically a straight pipe. (Free flow)?
Can you share where you purchased them

Powerflow are a UK brand (I believe South African in origin) - since lm in the UK.

I guess the equivilent over the pond would be Magnaflow.

Do you remember the dimensions by any chance.
Looking into a set of masterflow 44 mufflers.
They're about 20" long not sure if they'll fit.
Maybe the part number of your mufflers and I'll look them up.

That's pretty tame (car in video.)
My 3.0T is louder than that with borlas on it. (I started with the resonator and mid muffler delete and did not like the sound or performance.)
Even with that said it's probably louder than what you are looking for.

One of the challenges we have with the 4.0TT engines is that the turbo chargers strangle the V8 exhaust note. Going fully decated with a free flow exhaust would open the sound up more, but make the car illegal here in the UK as it would fail the emissions testing if the cats were removed.

Im not tracking the car and its my daily driver, so Im happy with the way it sounds now

They seem to be popular with the Dodge Ram trucks and mustangs

I still have my OEM cats.
I loved my resonated Milltek exhaust system I had on my stage 3 A4. Modest in regular driving and opens up loudly during WOT.
