Agreed, the experience can be like night & day depending on your salesman/saleswoman/salesperson/salesassociate whatever won't offend someone! Same thing for the service adviser, they can make any dealer a terrible or great experience. If you're not in a hurry, private party with a 3rd party inspection would probably end up being the best deal, but buying from a dealer is quicker/less work.
I haven't dealt with any of the small car lots in many years, but I've only heard bad things from others, I can't recommend any. I like the service dept at Prestige Audi, but I haven't found anyone in sales that I like. I've bought 4 cars (1 used, 3 new) from John Axton at Audi Denver, and I have zero complaints, he's always treated me great, never lied or pressured me. Even when he briefly left Audi & went to Mercedes he helped me get a good deal on my Audi lease buy-out (this was years ago, he's back at Audi Denver).
