    Cold starting issue

    Hi gang,
    I have an 2004 A4 1.8t B6.
When my car sits overnight/cold, it is hard to start. Fires up and instantly dies. Takes about 3 start attempts and have to pump the throttle. Once it starts, runs smoothly and no problems the rest of the day. Previous owner changed the fuel filter and pump. I've changed the oil, air filter, spark plugs, cleaned intake. No engine codes. Any help is appreciated and thanks.

How are your coolant temp sensors working? Have you checked the fuel pump relay operation?

The fuel pump seems to be working fine. Not sure about the coolant temp sensors though. Will check them out and thanks.

Check with VCDS to see what it reads cold. If it is 95 degrees C, chances are the ECU is using a default value. Resistance check with a voltmeter on pins C to D should be north of 2k Ohms cold.

    Hey Pswish
Turned out to be the coolant sensor after all.
    Thanks for your help!

Excellent, happy to help! Just make sure that sensor is fully clipped in or it may spring free...

Yep, I put a light and mirror on it. Not being able to see it directly, was pretty paranoid, lol

It took me a month to let the paranoia fade since i didn't clip mine in all the way and it popped out on a hill dumping my coolant and gasket on the highway.
