I am using the WMA3000 on my '09 A5 (2G MMI, I think the same as yours).
It works perfectly for streaming media that's already on your iPod/iPhone. There is some quirkiness... it took me about 35 minutes to actually get the 2G MMI system to recognize the WMA3000 because believe me, it was CONFUSED. After several turn-overs and unplugging/replugging the WMA3000 back into the AMI connector, it finally started to work properly.
Quirks that bother me the most is really limited to one issue, which I think is an unavoidable one when taking into consideration the type of interface we are working with... streaming Youtube videos... the MMI system, when you're connected through Bluetooth to the WMA3000, will force you to play tracks already on your iPhone/iPod (it chooses at random, it seems) before it plays the video you selected on the Youtube app. It happens every. damn. time. It's super annoying because there is no dedicated Bluetooth or Aux option for our cars, so the system just streams whatever it finds on your device assuming that's what is connected to the car.
Once again, I believe it to be an unavoidable interface issue. My way around it is simply to pay attention to when the video is loading and as soon as I see the pause symbol on the video change to the "play" symbol, I hit "play" before my car starts playing a song. There's about a split-second that I can do it without having any music over-lap. I do not recommend paying this close attention to Youtube while driving...
Other than that, the WMA3000 makes your car think that your device is connected directly into the AMI, which it is not. I believe it converts the A2DP protocol to a digital signal transmitted through the hard-wire for AMI.
From my research and experience it is the best device on the market for what you need to do with it. I got mine for 68 bucks on Amazon and its worth the risk.
BE FOREWARNED! Support from Viseeo is absolutely worthless, so I wouldn't recommend registering the product, it's not like they actually HAVE any software updates on their website or anything. Just expect to buy the adapter and forget it's even there.
