I'm looking at doing the thing but with ( here comes the shit storm) a wheel out of a B7 with tip paddles. If you do a search for single stage to 2 stage airbag you'll find a full thread that includes part numbers...there's a ton of debate and chastisement about a B7/B6 swap. The MFSW in the B6 will swap with the three spoke wheel with a new clock spring, airbag and wiring connector without fear of airbag deployment.

B7 wheel with a functional airbag will not work.

The B8.5 wheel with appropriately wired cable will work with appropriate clock spring and module

What about the B8.5 wheel allows it to "work" that the B7 does not? I know people have swapped the B7 but the heated debate is whether the 2-Stage bag will deploy.

My plan is to move the igniter from the original B6 bag and put it on the B7....this is gonna take some work and fabrication but solves the single stage vs 2 stage debate.

I just picked up a flat bottom for my B6 as well. Where you running the B7 clock spring and module? Or a unit outta of a B6 with controls? I found a few threads but just double checking!

There is no debate. There have been several people that set it up, crashed and the airbag didn't deploy. Hence it doesn't "work."

I have to say your plan is interesting. Jerry rigging an airbag to work with a system it wasn't meant for just might earn you a Darwin award.

The "debate" was in reference to previous threads discussing the issue, not that I was debating it. If you're unable to comprehend previous thread conversations and determine that two opposing sides discussing an idea regardless of who is correct is debating then there is a lot left in life you need to pick up on. Such as this debate between you and I.
All I said was I had a plan, not that the plan would work but one that has successfully been accomplished with other makes with single stage systems to 2 stage conversions by using the single stage igniter. So I figure why not try. Hence...I'll really speak slowly if you need me to...the system components designed to work together...i.e. a single stage system with a single stage igniter are still working together. It isn't jerry riggin a system not designed to work together.
Modding a vehicle is what this forum is here for, an idea is only stupid until it works. The igniters truly bolt onto the frame holding the bag. If you're not willing to try something different to a problem no one else has solved then why not just keep quiet and sit in the back row?

You gotta come up with a better troll than "you know best noob". It kinda only works when you're talking shit to the 12-year old whose ass you're trying to kick on Mortal Kombat while eating cheetos in your moms basement back in 1992.
