    Help Rattling noise

Does anybody know what could be rattling when I'm idling. The noise comes from somewhere under the hood. My car will run fine at idle it might rattle a little but it usually goes away once my engine is warm but the second i turn the ac on the rattle appears and it's loud. I thought it was the belt tensioner that was making the noise so I tried replacing it with a new one from Audi and the noise was still there. I noticed that the noise will appear for a split second if I'm rolling down the windows or rolling them up. Also if I'm playing music and the bass hits where it's pulling more power the rattle appears but no where near as loud as if the ac is on. Whenever I turn on my headlights it rattles from time to time but if I turn the fog lights on the rattle gets louder and then if I turn high beams on it will get even louder. So I'm thinking it has something to do with the alternator maybe it's not giving enough power. I later found a video on YouTube saying a bad alternator pulley can cause the noise and it sounded exactly the same as my rattle so I went ahead and just ordered a new alternator and the noise was still there even with the new alternator. I will try and post a video of it so you can hear it. If anybody knows what may be wrong could you let me know. Thanks

Check you alternator pulley even if its new. Remove the belt, insert thin screwdriver through alternator ribs on the front where the impeller is to lock it on the place. Now pulley should not move clockwise and should slip counterclockwise

Accessory belt tensioner, you could get a new one plus the belt for about $40 and do it yourself in maybe 30 mins

Take a 17mm wrench and push down on the tensioner to see if the noise subsides. DIY
