    2017 S7 or 2016 A8L 3.0

    Happy New Year!
Not comparing apples with apples but I am considering an S7 with Sport package, driver assistant, black optics in Daytona gray.
The other option is a loaner A8L with executive package, cold weather, sport package, driver assistant.
Both cars are great and I can get a great deal on both. Currently i have a 16 A6 prestige fully loaded.

I know each one has its advantages, the S7 being unique, super quick and sporty. The A8 is very luxurious, high tech with all bells and whistles.

I'd love to hear your opinion from S7 and from A8L owners to see what they love and dislike about their respective cars.

I used to own a S8 V10 and know the difference of an S Audi vs. a regular A.

    Thanks for your feedback

I also came from a D3 V10 S8 just this summer. I got t boned by an 18 wheeler and walked away

I cross shopped the D4 A8 and C7 S6. The D4 A8 just wasn't as fun to drive, sound nearly as good with valves wired open, or unique as my old S8. In terms of fun to drive and tech, the C7 S6 is a good balance.

The only drawback is that niether car will feel as special as your previous S8. I know mine doesn't and I have comfort seats, drivers assistant etc

Wow. That is not something you will ever forget. I imagine that play reel spins endlessly if you let it...18 WHEEEEEELER COMING! Glad you are alright.

Regarding OP- I would go take a short drive to dealer and check out the interior differences. That seems to be a decision point for many.

Finally, you have an 2016 (i.e. newish) A6. The real question is why in the hell are you car shopping so early into a new car? I applaud you for getting feedback here but I would spend some time with this question. You know why you stepped down from s8 and why you are itching to move again so soon. Unless you like a new car every two years (more power to you if you do), I would slow down and do exhaustive research and spend lots of time in each of these cars until you no longer need to ask.

Good luck and happy new year.

Well, I don't think I need to explain my financial situation but I always buy new cars and never keep them longer than a few years...
The S8 was my weekend cruiser but wasn't driven very much, so I decided to sell it. I mainly use the A6 by myself and occasionally with clients. I have owned many Audis over the years and always loved the S and the A8s. I know they are not the same which is why I wanted to hear some feedback. I am disappointed in the A6 suspension which is the main reason why I'd like to get another car with air suspension. More bells and whistles or more power wouldn't hurt while upgrading to either the S7 or A8L.

    I traded in my 2011 A8L for my 2016 S6 this fall.
The A8 was a gorgeous car, felt special, had presence (though the Germans are accused of making "the same sausage in 3 sizes" regarding styling, in real life the size and length of the A8L was not mixed up with other sedans). The details were amazing. I posted on here before a couple examples of why it was a $104k car. The seats are freaking thrones. Love my diamond stitched seats in the S6, but they can't compare to the ones in the A8. The front seat belt buckle (female end) had a soft fuzzy material on the back side as not to scratch or mar the leather on the sides of the center console. The trunk doesn't have a single square inch of non-finished surface (I was shocked aft er 2 A8s back to back to see in my S6 trunk the speaker hanging down from the rear console shelf!). The B&O system in the A8 puts to shame every other B&O I have heard in other Audi models. Lastly, the NA 4.2 V8 in my '11 A8 was so damn smooth, fast, and efficient. Complaints? It had a tiny trunk for such a large car (partly due to B&O system components wedged between trunk and rear seats- hence no ski pass thru or folding seats too). The engine note was too quiet, but it's a luxury car so not surprised. That's it.
All that said, I freaking grin like an idiot every time I start my S6 and that growl echoes through the garage (especially since I got a Milltek exhaust last month). And the S7 is even prettier than the S6.
    Get the S7.

A8L has the same 4L motor in it. Drive them and pick the one that feels best

Slovenian tin exhaust, some worthless intake that isn't the SRM yet, cete valve controller because the akra one doesn't work properly on c7.5, apr stage 1 ecu/tcu, 5(five) bbs ci-r's because my car loves potholes, Eurocode sways/links, Eurocode alu-kreuz, and an undying love of hard parking

I have driven both. The A8L is the supercharged 3.0 V6 and is really nice. I had an S7 in Germany this summer that I opened up on the Autobahn to 270km/h. It just didn't have the sport differential nor the sport exhaust.
Since they really are 2 different cars for very different reasons, I thought I'd asked here to get some feedback....

    I almost got an 2016 A8L but I felt the 3.0 in such a big car wasn't enough. I have the A7 I'd like the S7, but wouldn't do a 3.0 in the A8.

Just drove my dads A8L with the 4.0TT....man that was a ride! The airride suspension and the sport differential was so nice, the dif kinda scared me the first time I felt it going into a turn then figured it out and really liked that option.

I am so up in the air about what I want next also, but two things are consistent: comfort and a 4.0TT engine. I need the ultra comfortable ride due to my bad back and neck, but I desire the powerful twin turbo to keep the sportiness. The A8L with the 4.0TT is on my short list along with the S7. #conflicted #firstworldproblems

The 8 is such a big car and I think it is a different type of experience. If you are looking for a sporty and younger car, than the S7 is the way to go. If you are looking for a comfy luxury touring sedan, then the A8. I have to believe the S7 is going to be a lot more fun to drive. If you have a big family, the A8 might be the better fit.

Not to split hairs here but my 2016 S7 has that fuzzy stuff on the back of the seatbelt as well.
