Exclamation New to Audi.. New some help!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey all,
Im new to the Audi scene and am looking to get into a B8 2014 Audi S4 Premium Plus with 7speed. Im coming from a 16' Focus RS which I love, but need a lower payment and want comfort. COuld anyone answer some questions for me:
What to look for when buying used but from dealer?
Sport Differential is a must, but how do you tell if it has it?
    Common issues to expect?
    Buy modded or non modded?
    Common mods?
Good Price for a 2014 with 39k miles?
    Do you recommend anything?

Thank you to anyone who can help me! I heard this community is great.
    Regards,
    CB

First off, Welcome to the Forum. Second, know that the 2013+ are considered the B8.5 generation. The easiest way to notice the difference are the headlights.

    To answer your questions,

    1) Buy a CPO if you can.
    2) Sport Differential is great for the corners. If you like to take corners with no brakes, road race, or just like the saying your Audi has Sport Differential then yes you will want this feature. Personally, since I have it, I would ensure my next Audi has the Sport Differential feature.
    3) Besides the recalls, the only issues will be the Mod Bug hitting you.
    4) I would look for a modded vehicle (minus a tune). Mods for Audis or german vehicles in general are more expensive than let's say a Ford Focus RS, so you will be ahead of the game.
    5) CAI, wheels, brakes, suspension components, and of course a tune. The S4 is a great vehicle stock, however, when you know you can make it more perfect..the mod bug bites.
    6) Look at the typical internet websites for cars...ebay, autotrader, etc.
    7) Hmmm...know that Monsoon Gray S4s are the fastest S4s out there.

    Hope my answers helped.

Lol all good points except #7. Truth is Nogaro Blue S4s are the fastest. Other than that exactly correct...

There are two ways to tell if it has a sport diff.

In the drive select menu, in the "individual" options, sport differential will show up right next to engine, engine sound, and steering, etc.

The other way is to look under the rear axle. The sport diff looks like a big aluminum lump/debris magnet

Cpo first and foremost then go for color and options. Sport diff and b and o should be your choice seeing u have the tranny decided upon. B and o is glorious.

To me every other option is secondary. Full Napa leather was a must for me. Waze is used for me even though I have Gps in the car.

Hey you made it on here! Check out the black one I sent you from the classifieds. It's very tastefully modified for what you're wanting to do with it!

Honestly I would ask yourself this question first. "do you want to chip it?" If thats a yes then don't get CPO car. As its not needed unless your buying a CPO from another owner. I think they are still transferable. But Sports Diff a Must and I don't know about you but with the Sports Diff and the DSG Crown center diff this car is in rails. I can hold corner's very hard. No race track but i like it. And make sure the car has Navi package for convince. Those are the major 2 options i would say to get. After that then its truly your choice. But for mods. Get an exhaust and intake and the noise is awesome if you want to hear it. After that then sway and AK brace and the CR-15 brace. Then its tune if you want to do that route.

    Here

Coming from a Focus RS I think you're going to be really, really bored in an S4. It weighs almost 600 lbs more and the B8.5 has notoriously numb steering. Also note that you are going to be paying more to maintain the S4 than your RS, so that could erase a lot of any payment savings. Have you checked out the Golf R? Definitely a notch more comfortable than the RS but actually lighter, huge fun to drive, and very tune-able. Stage 1 will get you over 350hp in a 3300lb car!

(Looks like the car you are looking at is worth $30-32k.)
