I'm considering a stage 2 tune and a TCU tune. I drive in manual mode and use the paddles 90% of the time. I like the ZF8, but I wish downshifts were faster, especially when you downshift 2 or 3 gears at once. How much will the TCU tune improve this? It's the main reason I'm considering it, although I'm sure there's other benefits.

Done correctly, claying a car will not harm the paint at all.

    https://www.chemicalguys.com/blogart...-clay-your-car

    https://www.autogeek.net/detailing-clay-bar.html

Holograms in particular, but swirls as well, are usually a product of machine polishing done poorly (too much pressure or heat, etc).

Yup, clay bar should NOT mar the paint at all. It should be done when the car surface is already 99% clean and free of contaminants. Clay itself is not hard enough to scratch paint.

From what I’ve seen (forensic detailing on YouTube) it will. DYOR. There’s no way your getting your care 99% free of contaminants after a wash, especially if the cars never been clayed before. If that was the case why would you clay? To remove the 1% ???

Claying shouldnt mar the paint. As said previously u need to wash ur car thoroughly first before claying. Plus u need to lubricate the car as u clay so the marring doesnt happen

Washing a car gets most of the surface dirt and grime off. Claying removes the contaminates thats almost etched inside the paint that shampoo and water couldnt get rid of. Its more for the feeling of smoothness, not visual improvements

Yup, to remove the last stubborn bits that are either embedded or you missed during your washing stage. Pretty much the last dirt removal step before you paint correct and/or ceramic coat.

Pretty much if I have the wires connected will the car start and run well enough to idle as the car was just put back together and want to kno if issue was fixed before oermant fix. Looking for fast ea cheap fix just so I can start vehicle

in my car when with bluetooth connected:
phone - rings in car, no sound on phone
text - very subtle beep and notification (envelope) in bottom right of MMI screen, no sound on phone
email - no notification in car or sound from phone. not surprised on this since there is no email integration in MMI.

cant comment on google directions. i use navi or AA.

not sure if there is a specific setting but i enabled all notifications/gave permissions to my phone when setting up bluetooth with the car.

Which phone is it? I know for Android there may be different volume sliders for notifications and music, etc.

I think I only get the ringing and music, no other sounds at all. playing videos while idling doesn't work either as long as I'm connected to Bluetooth. when I disconnect all sound comes back on phone of course. but when connected, nothing through speaker sans music and phone calls

OK, noob question, but how to we define facelift vs pre-facelift for the MY16? Was the facelift mid model year, or is every MY16 a facelift car? Are rectangular exhaust tips tucked under the bumper PFL or FL? Fog lights integrated into the headlights? I've googled around a bit, but I cant really find defining features that would let you know which a car is. Most things just say visual changes to grill, etc.

The headlights and taillights would be the dead giveaway.
All US 16's are facelift. 15's were a short production run as they switched...which is why you see so few '15's (There are only 376 2015 S6's in the US.)

    Thanks in advance.
Guess they still haven't fixed their site and app for the c7 cars. The additional features are only for the new model cars, ours don't have remote control features. Only thing I remember the app could do was send directions to the nav system. Never used it after playing with that.

That's normal I think, when playing through bluetooth it plays whatever sound your iPhone would have played.

HOWEVER, there is a feature in newer cars that reads text messages (i.e. notifications in this modern age) which should play regardless of whatever your current media source is.

Enable "Show Notifications" for your car bluetooth device on your iPhone, and enable text messages in the MMI. Might be a facelift MMI only though, I've only seen it on 2015 and above. See this thread: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...display-iOS-12 including my post and the video

Looking at a 2012 A7 3.0T with 100k on it. Major items I should be looking for to have been replaced by this time? Big preventative maintenance items I should be looking to do in near future for this mileage?

Does anyone else get a static shock when exiting their C7 and closing the car door? This never happened to me with my B8 S4, but happens nearly every time I exit my S6. Other than the car, I don't think anything else has changed as far as my routine is concerned. Any insights out there on this?

I have an A6 and this happens to me most of the times. I just thought it is because of my clothes or the weather, I'm from Seattle BTW...

Worth reading through that. Outside of Audi's recommended servicing and relatively probable failures in that thread, I'd probably want trans fluid and carbon cleaning done on a car with that any miles.

Are there any USB plug locations other than inside the center console arm rest? I can't find one anywhere. It would be awesome if there was one inside the container with the sliding door (in front of the shifter).

That wouldn’t be any different. It’s derived from the same location as the USB outlet.

That’s what I thought but his profile says he has a 15. The facelift started in 16...

Shuga - do you have a 2012 A6? I think those were the only C7 cars that got the ashtray and lighter in front of the shifter.

    I have a 2012 A6 and a 2016 A6. I can confirm the 2012 has the cig lighter up front and the 2016 doesn't.

I don't have any ash tray or lighter. My guess is, it was an option to have these, or just the storage department. Could be wrong, but I know through building various cars online, some manufacturers give you the choice.
