    Wheels/tires help for 19x9.5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm buying a 2008 S Line Avant, and really struggling with what wheel tire setup to go with.

I know I want 19's, and most the wheels I want are either 19x8.5 or 19x9.5

For 19x9.5 and a mild drop of 1-2" with coilovers, are there any tires wider than 235 that will still fit without severe rubbing?

YES, I have searched, no I can't find a good answer.

I doubt you can go much more than 235 with 9.5 on a B7... in fact a lot of people go with 225 or 215...

    I went with a 235/35/19 on a 19x9.5 ET39 at 24.25" FTG and it is very tight...

I run 255/30 on my 19x9.5. I have a finger gap of space and don't rub.

If you included the offset on your wheels and FTG height it would help op more..

@paid4 that's the stance I'm looking for, but I think that's just a bit too much stretch for me. Do you have some close-ups of the wheels/tires on the car so I can see the poke/stretch more?

Could you share some pictures as well? Very curious about the look of such a wide tire in the fender. Thanks!

Only one I have so far...I need to take a better picture as this one's fairly dark. This is also before I installed coilovers. I'm pretty sure they are ET40 as I run a 5mm spacer/hub adapter.

So 255s fit? That would be nice as I have a FWD and traction is a problem.

This is exactly what I'm trying to figure out. More rubber on the road almost always equals better,

Especially considering he's already lowered I really want to see some more pics.

    I'm on OEM S5 peelers 19x9 +33 and 235/35/19 Nokian winter tires. Roughly 24 1/4 - 24 1/2 ftg. No spacers, solowerks coilovers.

When I purchased the wheels they had 255/35/19 Continental tires and I tried using them. They rubbed when not even moving 😒. I still have my fender liners and have not rolled my front fender, only removed the 12 oclock lining bolt in the front.

This. This is exactly the look I wanted, but I can't find good 19x9's that I like...... looks awesome.

The tires really aren't stretched much at all and I have taken corners very aggressively with no problems...

If you want to be as low as I am (~24"- 24.25" FTG), I don't see how you can go any wider than a 235...

It's that gap between the wheel lip and tire that I can't stand. It works for some people but I just can't do it.

I'm not looking to go as low as you. About how much lower than stock would you say that is?

Not sure how much lower than stock..

And I hear you on the wheel lip gap deal, but I've gotten used to that look over the years and doesn't bother me anymore..

I also have the S5 peelers..

    Run 235/35 with both set-ups..

Are going to get coilovers so you can adjust?

I run 245/35/19 Michelin's on VMR 718's, 19/8.5 45et with a H&R Sport spring kit, 5mm spacers up front, none in the rear. No rub and the ride is great and predictable.

    Looks great with both.

    Yes on the coilovers.

Niche, Rotiform, Neuspeed, few others. Most of the styles I like are either 19x8.5 or 19x9.5 but there's a few 19x9 gems in between. I'm thinking of doing 235 on the 8.5 or 245 on the 9.0, but I'm really not feeling the 9.5's

Sure, here is the rear and front as it sits today. No stretch, tires fit perfectly. And these Michelin's ride and grip like crazy!

Your tire size limitations are gonna be limited by the ride height you want and if you can tolerate rubbing.

mgfranz doesn't rub on a 255 because relative to the guys running aggressive fitment, he's pretty high up height wise.

paid4 is running a 235 to avoid substantial rubbing. He *could* probably run anywhere from a 35-30 offset on his setup, and it would fill in that gap you're talking about, but filling in that gap at a low height correlates directly to rubbing.

Sorry man, I'll get you some pictures. I did forget to mention that my fenders are rolled so that probably is why I don't rub. I always forget they're rolled because it was done by the previous owner.

Yup! This was done for a DD role, the H&R Sport gave me only 1.5" drop, which is perfect for me, (although the ride is comfortably stiff), I love pulling those hard right-handers at 60mph+.

Disregard the dirty car/wheels...and the messed up bumper...and the mismatched tires...

I didn't get a measurement of FTG but I can't even get a finger between the tire and fender without going upwards...if that makes sense. I also have 5mm spacers on these wheels.

    Wheels/tires help for 19x9.5

235/35/19 19x8.5 you can run them. I love the tucked tire look. You will rub sometimes at the start then it will go away honestly. My rear fenders are what my issue was. My fender liner it rubbed it a little bit off on the top but nothing to where I said "sell these wheels!" But i doubt you will want to go as low as me, this is as low as I can go without rubbing on the freeway

Did you quote your own post minutes apart to post an almost identical picture of a setup that doesn't pertain to the original question at all?

Do you enjoy trolling on forums? I was trying to show how a 19x8.5 would look low if he wanted to be that low. Because 19x9.5 would be tight if he wanted to tuck wheel.

My original question has evolved, I'm considering everything from 19x8.5-19x9.5

And I hear you on the wheel lip gap deal, but I've gotten used to that look over the years and doesn't bother me anymore..

I also have the S5 peelers..

    Run 235/35 with both set-ups..

Are going to get coilovers so you can adjust?

What wheel companies are you looking at?

In your opinion, how much would you have to increase ride height to fit a 245/35/19 in there? Is there space in the wheel well for a slightly higher offset wheel, or is that +39 about the limit for a 19x9.5 ?

I think I definitely want a 19x9.5 because I cannot find a wheel in 19x9 that has the concavity I want, neither do I have the budget for a custom forged set. BUT I will definitely not run a 235 on a 9.5, must be a 245 at least.

    Thanks

I would absolutely not run the wheels with anything higher than 235 tires. If anything I'd go smaller because I still rub on turns with an ET 35 offset and that tire and wheel size. You'd have a hard time fitting them in there honestly at any ride height, the 235s are a pretty damn tight squeeze on the inside.

You can do an ET40 but I probably wouldn't try anything much higher than that or you'll hit your control arms, and anything much lower than ET35 will start to poke out and will almost definitely rub unless you roll/pull fenders.

I'm confused, I thought you were on et39?
