For those who have went OEM --> Stage 1 --> Stage 2

Question for those of you who have went OEM to Stage 1 to Stage 2..

I ordered EPL Stage 2.. I now have access to Stage 1 software as my cable/pulley are en route.. It will likely be a few weeks (maybe more) until I have time to install the pulley and load the S2 software.. Question is an opinion for those who bridged and went Stage 1 in the interim --- do you think I should wait and go Stage 2 direct? Or should I flash Stage 1 now and ride on it for the next weeks/month? I've heard feedback from a lot of people (and dyno proven) that the jump to Stage 2 from S1 isn't nearly as drastic and I'm wondering if I'll feel disappointed/bummed by not getting "more" out of the Stage 2 jump.. The old dive right in vs. ease right in discussion.

Anyone have any thoughts? Did you do one and wish you did the other? Stoked either way to be tuned - just want to do it right for maximum satisfaction.

Since you already went Stg 2, just go to Stg1 for now and enjoy. Who cares about the jump - you have both anyway.

I thought the jump from OEM to Stage 1 was better than Stage 1 to 2, but who cares? More is better at all times.

Go Stage 1 first. No point in waiting.

Stage 1 feels like a bigger jump as it adds a lot more up top.

Stage 2 feels like a smaller jump but can be felt all across the power band.

Going Stage 1 first will make you thirsty to get even more performance out of it

Having driven both (mine being a stage 1 and stage 2 was a friend's) I can say that even though the stage 2 gains aren't as drastic, there is still a noticeable difference in low end response due to the pulley ratio producing boost sooner. If you're concerned about the way it feels, I would say if you bought the DSG tune as well.. just do stage 1 now, and then stage 2 with dsg tune later so you wont be disappointed either time.

I definitely recommend enjoying stage 1 until you have the time to install the pulley. I did so, with EPL, and stage 1 was very noticeable, as was the upgrade to stage 2.

all i will say is stock to stage 2 was a very dramatic difference, the first time you really lay into it its going to surprise you.... in a good way

    I felt the opposite.
Stock to Stage 1 wasn't as drastic. The only real difference was way high in the RPM where boost would not bleed off.
Stage 1 to Stage 2 I felt was a bigger jump because of the increase in low end tq which is much more useful in daily driving.
Mind you - neither felt as drastic as tuning a turbo. Our SC engine is so smooth and power delivery is so linear that it's not the same as a turbo power delivery when tuned.

Regardless - for sure go stage 1 then stage 2. Enjoy both and appreciate each for what they are... the evolution of your car...
I have slowly modded my car for 5 years now and it's kept it fresh and fun the entire time. Had I done everything at once I'd have missed out on the journey.

I had a similar experience, stage 1 was a nice power bump but majority above 5k. Therefore you don't feel all of what is has most of the time. For me stage 2 is how I like to drive the car, ripping from a low rpm especially since these cars have such amazing traction. You will appreciate both, very different...

Up to what your pleasure is really. Ask your self if you want your car at it's funest or do you enjoy the process of modding?

I went stage 1 then stage 2 but would have been perfectly happy doing it all at once. I get very little pleasure from modding and deep down wish it came that way stock.

Flash Stage 1 dude... that's almost like a no brainer honestly. If you're gonna wait and install pulley when funds or time allows, might as well enjoy Stage 1 while you have it... why not? You'll notice a nice boost in power with Stage one, no doubt. With Stage 2, you'll get a bit more torque and response down low with a little bit more gain up top, but it's not like Stage 1 is a slouch or whatever and not worth it. Honestly, I would have stayed at Stage 1 had my damn crank pulley not taken a shit on itself at 70k. When that happened, I wasn't going to install another OEM unit, so I got a JHM and installed that myself and then called up Chris and asked him to process my payment for Stage 2. I rode on JHM pulley and Stage 1 EPL for about a day or so I think while my account got updated to Stage 2 file.

I went from Stage 1 to Stage 2 and there was no disappointment.. and once you go stage 2 then go to the Dual Pulley file...

Since you are at altitude, stage I may not be significant jump. Still worthwhile to flash it though.

Is stage one all up top or is there anything added down low? Even butt dyno feels?

It's across the whole rev band but most noticeable up top.

Stage 1 is still a beast at altitude. And then when you jump to stg II, it's a whole new car all over again. For max fun, definitely flash asap, then go stg II as time allows.

I say go flash stage 1, it defenitely is a great increase from stock but as others have mentioned you will mostly feel it up Top since that is its main function (:
Personally i went stage 1 and then did Stage 2 with DSG tune and man the car rips now haha Like others have already mentioned
