Driver door unexpectedly opened while driving

Last week, while I was driving ~25 mph through a neighborhood, my door decided to unexpectedly open. I had my left foot off the clutch, pulled back toward me so I can bend my knee a bit, and all of a sudden, the door decides to open. My left leg was sorta resting against the door, and while not pushing against the door too much, there was enough weight against the door for it to open a little bit. Luckily I wasn't driving very fast, so I was able to quickly close it.

Prior to the door opening, there weren't any notifications that the door was open; nothing in my speedo cluster indicated an ajar door, nor were any interior lights on. But as soon as the door opened on me, the speedo cluster and interior lights both lit up with indication.

Has something like this happened to anybody else before? I thought about contacting AoA about this, but I thought I'd check here first.

It can happen if the latch mechanism is only 99% engaged....a little body flex and it can pop open, but the secondary door-catch should have prevented the door from opening more than an inch or so. The mechanical tolerances on the door-ajar microswitch are not that precise that it can detect that the latch isn't 100% engaged.

Thanks for the reply. Research indicates that it doesn't appear to be a widely-known issue, so luck must have been on my side. However, if it were to happen again, I'll begin to ask more questions. Cheers.
