ECU doesnt care about the transmission. You'll need to get the immobilizer defeated. Contact k0mpressed on the forums.

As said above, ECU is not transmission specific.
Here's the procedure to swap/adapt used ECUs: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index....28USED_ECU.29

You'll need SKCs for both ECUs.

Pretty sure 02 ECU is not compatible with 03 or later.

If you don't have the necessary cable to read and write the ECU in bootmode then yes you will need to send the ECU away to have IMMO defeated. The actual process of turning IMMO off is relatively simple to do yourself with the right cable.

Your other option is adapting the new ECU to the instrument cluster in your car. Also simple to do and can be done with a VCDS cable.

    1. Use VAG K+CAN Commander V2.5 to pull the SKC from both ECUs. Plenty of DIY out there show how to do this.
    2. Use VAG EEPROM Programmer to pull the SKC from your cluster. This is really just a sanity check to make sure the SKC of your present ECU and cluster match. There is a DIY on here that shows how to do that.
    3. Use VCDS to change the SKC of the new ecu to match your old ECU. Ross tech has a DIY on how to do that.
    4. Change ECU soft coding to show 5spd instead of 6spd. This is optional and shouldn't give you trouble if not done. Ross Tech has a DIY on this.
    5. Start car.
